    摘要: There is disclosed a carrier system for carrying a substrate batch including: (a) a heat treated, integral pallet having a pallet thickness, a top surface, and a bottom surface, wherein the pallet defines a plurality of passageways extending completely through the pallet thickness to form a first plurality of openings on the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the pallet also defines a plurality of chambers extending through at least a portion of the pallet thickness to form a second plurality of openings on the bottom surface; and (b) a plurality of chuck assemblies partially disposed in the plurality of the chambers and adapted to engage the substrate batch, wherein the pallet has sufficient structural rigidity such that while the carrier system is carrying the substrate batch, even when the carrier system is subjected to an elevated temperature, there is absent any appreciable bending and twisting of the pallet.

    摘要: An electrostatographic imaging member assembly including a hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member, the member including a substrate, an exterior imaging surface, an interior back surface, a first end and a second end, a rigid cylindrical core support member located within the interior of and coaxially aligned with the cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member, the cylindrical core support member extending from at least the first end to the second end of the imaging member and having an outer surface spaced from the interior back surface of the hollow cylindrical photoreceptor and at least one preformed resilient compressible sleeve under compression between the back surface of the imaging member and outer surface of the cylindrical core support, the compression being sufficient to render the electrostatographic imaging member substantially rigid and substantially free from distortion under electrostatographic image cycling conditions. A process for fabricating this imaging member is also disclosed.

    摘要: An apparatus for cleaning cylindrical surfaces includes a plurality of cleaning stations. Each cleaning station is designed to receive a substrate and includes a plurality of nozzles. The inlet end of each nozzle is connected to a source of liquid Carbon Dioxide, and the outlet end of each nozzle is connected to one end of a respective Carbon Dioxide expansion chamber. Liquid Carbon dioxide leaving each nozzle is converted to solid Carbon Dioxide in the corresponding expansion chamber. The other end of each Carbon Dioxide expansion chamber is coupled to a respective funnel which is, in turn, connected to a dispersing saddle. The dispersing saddles disperse the stream of solid Carbon Dioxide particles leaving each funnel and direct these particles to the substrate surface. The dispersing saddles are placed such that the entire circumference of the substrate surface is enveloped within the various streams of solid Carbon Dioxide particles. In addition, the apparatus may include a source of a dry nonreactive gas which is introduced into each stream of solid Carbon Dioxide particles in order to reduce condensation on the surface from the surface of the substrate and to further direct each stream of solid Carbon Dioxide particles to the substrate surface.

    摘要: A system for loading a sleeve-like substrate into a processing module is disclosed. The system engages and retains a sleeve-like substrate by utilizing a first load head of a robot. The first load head typically engages and removes the sleeve-like substrate from a conveyor. The first load head transfer the sleeve-like substrate to a processing station module within the system. A second load head of the robot removes the sleeve-like substrate from the processing station module and transfers the module to a movable support structure. The robot provides movement of first or second load heads from a first position to a second position to orient the sleeve-like member in alignment with the support structure. The support structure inserts the sleeve-like substrate into the processing chamber for further processing. The system is particularly adapted for use in a rotary atomization manufacturing system in which a photoreceptor is manufactured by processing the sleeve-like substrate.
