    Abstract: A fuel system includes a main pump assembly. The main pump assembly has a main fuel pump connected to an input line, a recirculation pump connected to the input line, and a fuel recirculation system. A recirculation control includes a first selector valve in fluid communication with an outlet line of the recirculation pump, with a recirculation return line connected to return fuel to the input line, and with an inter-valve line. The recirculation control includes a second selector valve in fluid communication with the inter-valve line, with a back-up line connecting the second selector valve to a main fuel control, and with a cooler recirculation line connected to supply the one or more coolers.

    Abstract: A fuel supply system includes a pump to be connected to a fuel tank. A metering valve is downstream of the pump. A control is programmed to control at least one of the pump and metering valve. The control is operable to take in a flow demand signal and a fuel pressure signal from a controller associated with a gas turbine engine. The flow demand signal is indicative of a desired flow volume and the fuel pressure signal is indicative of a desired fuel pressure. Operation conditions are identified for the at least one of said pump and the metering valve. A gas turbine engine and fuel supply system is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A gear pump includes a pair of gears having meshed teeth. One of the gears is configured for connection to a source of drive. The gears are received within a housing. The housing has an inlet port configured for connection to a source of fluid and an outlet port. Each of the gears have a shaft rotating within the housing on a bearing on each axial side of each gear. At least one of the bearings associated with each of the pair of gears has a plurality of springs received in recesses to bias the said at least one bearing against an end face of a respective one of the pair of gears. A retention plate holds each of the plurality springs. A method of assembly is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A gear for a pump includes a gear body defining a root circle, and a plurality of gear teeth extending from the gear body radially outwardly of the root circle. Each of the plurality of gear teeth have a tip portion, a leading edge, a trailing edge, a circular thickness defined between the leading edge and the trailing edge, a first radially outwardly facing surface and a second radially outwardly facing surface. At least one of the first radially outwardly facing surface and the second radially outwardly facing surface includes a chamfered portion that extends from the leading edge toward the trailing edge across a portion of the circular thickness.

    Abstract: A starter for a gas turbine engine includes a rotor shaft rotatable about an axis and includes an inner bore extending from an axial end of the rotor shaft with respect to the axis. A sun gear is on the rotor shaft. A lock nut is received against an axial end face of the sun gear and threadedly engaged with an outer diameter of the rotor shaft.     Abstract: A vane pump system includes a kidney port plate engaged at an axial end of a rotor and liner. The port kidney plate includes an over vane inlet port configured to be circumferentially aligned with an inlet arc segment of a circumferential cam surface of the liner for ingress of fluid to a plurality of vanes, and an over vane discharge port configured to be circumferentially aligned with a discharge arc segment of the circumferential cam surface for discharging pressurized fluid from the plurality of vanes. The kidney port plate includes at least six kidney ports radially inward from the over vane inlet port and the over vane discharge port. The kidney ports are circumferentially spaced apart from one another. The kidney ports are configured to be radially aligned with vane slots of the rotor for pressure balancing across over vane and under vane ends of the plurality of vanes.
