    摘要: A method for forming a median crack and an apparatus for forming a median crack are provided, where the formation of a deep, straight median crack is possible, and an excellent broken surface of a brittle substrate can be gained as a result of breaking. In the method for forming a median crack in a brittle substrate, the brittle substrate is irradiated with a laser beam along a laser-scribe line to be formed with median cracks on the brittle substrate so as to be heated to a temperature that is no higher than its melting temperature, and thereby, a median crack is created along the laser-scribe line to be formed with median cracks and expanded starting from a notch that has been formed in the brittle substrate, and this method for forming a median crack in a brittle substrate is characterized in that high temperature portions that receive intense radiation from a laser beam, and low temperature portions that receive faint radiation from a laser beam are alternately formed along the laser-scribe line to be formed with median cracks.

    摘要: The broad range measurement exploiting the usual propagated light and the high resolution measurement mode exploiting near-field light are to be accomplished with a sole as-assembled optical probe. To this end, light radiated through an optical probe 13 having a light shielding coating layer 33 formed for defining a light radiating aperture D or light radiated at a core 31 of the optical probe 13 is propagated, as the optical probe 13 is moved in a direction towards and away from a surface for measurement 2a. The core of the optical probe is coated with a light shielding coating layer 33. In this manner, a spot of propagated light propagated through the core 31 or a spot of near-field light seeping from the light radiating aperture D is formed on the surface for measurement 2a, and light derived from the spot of light is detected.

The drive portions are placed in a direction orthogonal to a transportation direction of the sheet. The control portion controls driving of the drive portions independently of each other so that a speed difference may be imparted to the transportation speed of the sheet in the direction orthogonal to the transportation direction of the sheet. Thereby, it becomes possible to stabilize passing posture of the sheet S, and therefore to decrease wrinkling and image failure attributed to the passing posture of the sheet.
