    摘要: A load beam is attached to an actuator arm that is allowed to rock around a pivotal axis by a voice coil motor, etc., as a slider supporting member, the base end of a flexure is attached to the load beam with the free end thereof being left, a slider supporting member is attached to the top portion of the flexure, a slider on which a recording/reproduction head is installed is secured to the slider supporting member, and the slider supporting member is supported by a protrusion placed on the free end side of the load beam so as to be freely pivot thereon. Portions of the flexure corresponding to both of the sides of this protrusion are constituted by elastic hinge portions, each having a necked shape. A pair of thin-film piezoelectric elements are bonded to the flexure as displacement members. In a tracking compensation operation of the head, forces are exerted on the slider supporting member through the elastic hinge portion by extending and contracting operations of the pair of thin-film piezoelectric elements so that the slider is allowed to pivot around the protrusion of the load beam serving as the center of pivotal movements, together with the slider supporting member.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, a search skip region setting function generation method includes associating, detecting, and generating. The associating associates a template used to search a model image for an object with a designated search point on the model image, and detects a designated search point similarity between the designated search point and the template. When the designated search point similarity exceeds an object detection determination threshold, the detecting detects surrounding search point similarities between a plurality of surrounding search points around the designated search point on the model image and the template. The generating generates a function required to set a search skip region of the object based on relative positions between the object and the template, which are estimated based on a distribution of the surrounding search point similarities.

    摘要: A piezoelectric actuator with a reinforced bending mode to suppress bending resonance caused by extension/contraction movements of the piezoelectric actuator and a disk drive using the piezoelectric actuator are provided. A flexible substrate is separated by a slit. A first piezoelectric element unit and a second piezoelectric element unit, both showing extension/contraction displacement, are disposed on one of the slit-separated flexible substrates, respectively. A coupling portion is provided to couple the separated flexible substrates across the slit. The coupling portion is provided at a position corresponding to an antinode of a primary bending mode of the first and second piezoelectric element units being respectively fixed in both ends.

    摘要: A head support mechanism includes a slider for carrying a head at least for performing reproduction of data from a disk, and a holding portion for holding the slider. The holding portion includes: a first portion including a first piezoelectric element; a second portion including a second piezoelectric element; a third portion connected to the first and second portions, the slider being provided on the third portion; and a fixing portion for fixing the first and second portions. At least one of the first and second piezoelectric elements is contracted and expanded in a direction substantially parallel to a surface of the disk, in the presence of an applied voltage so that the slider provided on the third portion is rotated around a predetermined center of rotation.
