Abstract: There is a need to backup data consistent with data in an online volume of local storage (a storage system provided by a person different from the one who provides the cloud-based storage system) in a hybrid cloud without degrading I/O performance of the online volume. The local storage generates a backup area where data written to the online volume is backed up. The local storage associates the backup area with a server system that provides access to cloud storage from the local storage. The local storage writes the data attached to a write request to the online volume and backs up the data in the backup area. The local storage transmits the data from the backup area to the server system to write the data to the cloud storage.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a redundant information processing system that can continue its operation without stopping as much as possible. To achieve this, the information processing system includes multiple storage nodes including processors, memories, and storage devices, as well as a network for connecting the storage nodes. The processor of at least one storage node performs the steps of: obtaining the configuration information of the information processing system; obtaining first failure information related to a first failure occurred in the information processing system; calculating the availability level of the information processing system when a second failure further occurs, based on the configuration information and the first failure information; and controlling the operation of the system based on the availability level. Then, the processor outputs a notification.

Abstract: When a real area is allocated to a write destination virtual area in a virtual volume, a storage device determines whether or not a size of compressed new data is larger than a size of the allocated real area. In a case where the determination result is true, the storage device determines whether or not there is one or more real areas having a size equal to or larger than the size of the compressed new data and including a garbage area that is a real area serving as garbage. In a case where the determination result is true, the storage device selects one or more real areas including the garbage area, allocates, instead of the allocated real area, the selected one or more real areas to the write destination virtual area, and manages the allocated real area as a garbage area.

Abstract: A computer system includes a first server computer, a second server computer, a nonvolatile memory device, and a storage controller connected to the first server computer and the second server computer via PCI-Express, and connected to the nonvolatile memory device. The storage controller provides a storage area in the nonvolatile memory device as a shared data area for the first server computer and the second server computer. A server computer, which is each of the first and second server computers, stores a program that issues an NVM-Express command that is a command conforming to an NVM-Express standard.
