Abstract: A computer-implemented method for intersection communication includes detecting a first vehicle behind a host vehicle and in a same lane as the host vehicle and determining a rear distance between a rear end of the host vehicle and a front end of the first vehicle. The method also includes transmitting a backup request to the first vehicle based on the rear distance and a wait time period between the stop state and a go state controlled by a traffic signal device. Further, the method includes controlling the host vehicle to perform a backup maneuver with respect to an intersection based on the rear distance and the wait time period.

Abstract: An anticipatory lane change system is described for assisting a host vehicle positioned in a current lane that is adjacent an adjacent lane. The anticipatory lane change system may include an identification module that identifies a potential lane change location and receives proximate vehicle data associated with proximate vehicles. The anticipatory lane change system may include a prediction module that predicts future kinematic data at a future time for a set of the proximate vehicles. The anticipatory lane change system may include a determination module that determines whether a gap will be available at the potential lane change location at the future time based on the future kinematic data. The anticipatory lane change system may include a lane change module that initiates a lane change maneuver for the host vehicle in response to determining that the gap will be available at the potential lane change location at the future time.

Abstract: Some embodiments are directed to a computer system for enabling an implementer to select software for deployment to a vehicle control system. According to one aspect, a computer system of a vehicle includes a vehicle control system that is configured for operation with the vehicle. The computer system also includes a processor. The processor is configured to identify a set of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) applications for the computer system. Each of the V2X applications of the set of V2X applications is then evaluated based on market penetration rate influence on parameters that affect performance of each of the V2X applications. The processor is further configured to rank each of the V2X applications of the set of applications based on the evaluation. The computer system also includes an implementer configured to select a V2X application from the set of V2X applications based on the ranking to implement using the vehicle control system.

Abstract: A merge behavior system assists a host vehicle positioned in a merge lane that is adjacent a mainline lane. The merge behavior system includes an identification module that identifies at least one proximate vehicle in the mainline lane, if present. The merge behavior system also includes a prediction module that selects one or more models based on the at least one proximate vehicle, calculates one or more merge factors corresponding to the one or more models, and predicts a merge location based on the one or more merge factors. The merge behavior system further includes a control module that adjusts a kinematic parameter of the host vehicle to bring the host vehicle within a merging distance of the predicted merge location. The merge behavior system includes a merge module that determines whether a gap at the predicted merge location is a sufficient size for the host vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for autonomous vehicle drop-off and pick-up of an individual (e.g., valet type operation) are disclosed herein. An autonomous vehicle may receive global positioning system (GPS) location data including a drop-off location, a parking location, a pick-up location, a pick-up time, and timing factor information associated with an estimated arrival of the individual at the pick-up location, determine an adjusted pick-up time associated with the pick-up of the individual based on the timing factor, determine a departure time for autonomous pick-up of the individual based on the adjusted pick-up time, autonomously park the autonomous vehicle, by travelling from the drop-off location to the parking location after drop-off of the individual, and autonomously pick-up the individual, by departing, at the departure time, from the parking location and travelling to the pick-up location.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for controlling vehicles in a vehicle convoy. The vehicles in the vehicle convoy include a following vehicle and a preceding vehicle positioned immediately ahead of the following vehicle. The method includes receiving vehicle convoy data about an environment surrounding the vehicle convoy, and detecting an intention of a remote vehicle to execute a cut-in maneuver into a path of the following vehicle. Further, the method includes determining whether the cut-in maneuver is acceptable based on the intention of the remote vehicle and a distance between the following vehicle and the preceding vehicle, and controlling the following vehicle based on whether the cut-in maneuver is acceptable.
