    摘要: A scroll compressor includes a discharge valve assembly for blocking compressed refrigerant flow from the discharge chamber through the scroll members. This blocking of flow results in an increased performance for the scroll compressor by minimizing the recompression volume due to the configuration of the value assembly and thus the elimination of reverse rotation at shut down. The discharge valve assembly includes a valve seat, a disc shaped valve member, a retainer, a spring and a stop secured within a recess formed within the scroll member.

    摘要: A scroll machine has an elastomeric member placed between the drive shaft and an unloader drive bushing of the scroll machine. The elastomeric member provides limited transverse movement between the drive shaft and the orbiting scroll member which is driven by the drive bushing. The limited transverse movement permits radial compliant engagement of the scroll wraps of the scroll machine. In one embodiment, the elastomeric member is connected to the drive shaft and a bearing plate is placed between the elastomeric member and the drive bushing for driving engagement. In another embodiment, the elastomeric member is connected to the drive bushing and a bearing plate is placed between the elastomeric member and the drive shaft for driving engagement.

In one group of embodiments the capacity of the scroll-type machine is modulated by relative axial movement between the scroll members so as to form a leakage path across the wrap tips and opposed end plates. In another group of embodiments, modulation is achieved by reducing the orbital radius of one of the scroll members to thereby form a leakage path across the flank surfaces of the wraps. In the second group, a plurality of pin members are moveable from a first and second positions. In a first position the plurality of pin members operably enable the scroll members to orbit and in a second position the pin members restrict the orbiting motion of the first scroll members. Both types of scroll separation may be accomplished in a time pulsed manner to thereby enable a full range of modulation with the duration of the loading and unloading periods being selected to maximize the efficiency of the overall system. A motor control arrangement is also disclosed which may be used with either of the modulation methods mentioned above to increase the efficiency of the motor during periods of reduced load. Additionally, either of the modulation arrangements mentioned above may be combined with a delayed suction form of capacity modulation with or without the motor control feature to thereby achieve better operating efficiency under certain conditions.

    摘要: A scroll compressor has a pair of scroll members which compress a fluid as the fluid moves through pockets created by the scroll members. The fluid moves from a suction pressure zone to a discharge pressure zone. A chamber is defined by one of the scroll members. The chamber is in communication with a pocket located between the suction and discharge pressure zone such that an intermediate pressurized fluid is supplied to the chamber through a fluid passageway. The fluid passageway is designed to allow a large flow from the pocket to the chamber and a small flow from the chamber to the pocket. This dual flow capability reduces the pressure pulsation in the chamber. In one embodiment, a capacity control mechanism is associated with the compressor to vary the capacity of the compressor.

    摘要: A scroll compressor includes a capacity modulation system. The capacity modulation system has a piston that is connected to the non-orbiting scroll that disengages the non-orbiting scroll from the orbiting scroll when a pressure chamber is placed in communication with the suction chamber of the compressor. The non-orbiting scroll member moves into engagement with the orbiting scroll when the chamber is placed in communication with the discharge chamber. The engagement between the two scrolls is broken when the pressure chamber is placed in communication with fluid from the suction chamber. A solenoid valve controls the communication between the pressure chamber and the suction chamber. By operating the valve in a pulsed width modulated mode, the capacity of the compressor can be infinitely varied between zero and one hundred percent.

The capacity modulation system has a piston that is connected to the non-orbiting scroll that disengages the non-orbiting scroll from the orbiting scroll when a pressure chamber is placed in communication with the suction chamber of the compressor.
