    摘要: A starter device for an internal combustion engine comprises an output shaft driven by a motor, and a hollow cylindrical assembly disposed coaxially around and axially slidably on the output shaft, which assembly includes a hollow shaft splined to the output shaft, and a hollow cylinder disposed at the front side of the hollow shaft and coupled thereto through an overrunning clutch which transmits a rotational force in one rotational direction. Integrally formed at the front end of the hollow cylinder is a pinion which is placed into driving engagement with a ring gear of the associated engine when the axially slidable assembly is slid to a front position by a shift lever which urges the clutch to move in the axial direction. According to one aspect of the present invention, an annular sealing member is interposed between the hollow cylinder and the output shaft at an axial position in front of the sleeve bearing which rotatably supports the hollow shaft around the output shaft. According to another aspect, the outer circumferential surface of the output shaft is provided with an organic coating, which is formed of a resin such as a fluorocarbon resin or an epoxy resin, along an axial length which is situated in front of the sleeve bearing of the hollow cylinder when the hollow cylinder is at the front position. The resin-coated portion of the output shaft includes at least the portion which projects from the front end of the hollow cylinder when the hollow cylinder is at the rear position.

    摘要: A pulley comprising a circumferential groove which has a non-flat groove surface for increased friction against a belt to be received and a manufacturing method therefor. According to the method a pulley material is forged into a basic pulley configuration which is the shape of the material ready for forming the circumferential groove. The basic configuration comprises a plurality of axial grooves which extend in a generally axial direction over a surface of the pulley in which the circumferential groove is to be formed. The the circumferential groove is rolling-formed in the pulley material. Thus, a non-flat groove surface for a higher friction is provided. Alternatively, the higher friction groove surface may be formed by roughening a sand blasting, shot blasting or chemical surface treatment.

    摘要: An electric power steering apparatus for supplying a steering assist torque from an electric motor to a steering mechanism including a torque limiter which comprises a case made of a magnetic material and secured to an output shaft of the electric motor, a boss made of a magnetic material concentrically rotatably arranged relative to the case and connected to a driven shaft, and a permanent magnet member disposed between the case and the boss for magnetically connecting therebetween. The permanent magnet member is annular and has an axially anisotropic magnetization of a negative temperature coefficient of residual magnetic flux density. The apparatus comprises a layer of an abrasion-resistant material provided between the permanent magnet member and at least one of the case and the boss and a cover for covering the outside of the case and the boss. At least one of the case and the boss comprises a guide portion for guiding and supporting at least one of an outer circumference surface and an inner circumference surface of the permanent magnet member that is annular as well as a seal portion for sealing at least one of the outer circumferential surface and the inner circumferential surface of the other of the case and the boss against the entry of any foreign matter.

    摘要: A starter motor for an engine which does not readily admit water into a casing thereof and which allows water to be discharged promptly from the housing. The starter motor comprises a seal member for closing a gap between an outer periphery of a pinion moving member on an output rotary shaft or of an overrunning clutch and the casing, and the casing has two communicating holes formed therein for the communication with the atmospheric air outside the casing. One of the communicating holes is formed at a lower portion of the casing so that water may be discharged outwardly from within the casing therethrough. The other communicating hole is formed at a higher location of the casing and may be a communicating groove formed in an end face of a front bracket of the casing along which the front bracket is coupled to a yoke of an electric motor which is mounted in the casing and operatively coupled to the pinion moving member by way of the overrunning clutch.
