摘要： The present invention provides a projection type liquid crystal display device capable of achieving a high contrast ratio without causing optical leakage on boundary wavelength regions of three color light components in the case of a black display. The projection type liquid crystal display device is provided with a first and a second retarder stacks each of which has cut-off wavelengths. The cut-off wavelength on the short wavelength side of the first retarder stack is placed on a shorter wavelength side as compared with the cut-off wavelength on the short wavelength side of the second retarder stack, and the cut-off wavelength on the long wavelength side of the first retarder stack is placed on a longer wavelength side as compared with the cut-off wavelength on the long wavelength side of the second retarder stack.

The drive circuit selects desired gray scale voltage levels from a gray scale voltage varying with time in a staircase fashion, in accordance with display data, and supplies the selected gray scale voltage levels to the pixels. The drive circuit includes a stabilizer circuit provided to a gray scale voltage line for supplying the gray scale voltage varying with time.

Each of the plurality of pixels is supplied with a video signal via a switching element. Each of the plurality of pixels is provided with a capacitance having two electrodes in which one is connected to a first electrode of a corresponding one of the plurality of pixels and another is supplied with a pixel-potential control signal by a pixel-potential control circuit. The pixel-potential control circuit enables selection of a first voltage level and a second voltage level.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes plural reflective electrodes supplied with a video signal, second light-blocking conductive films below the reflective electrodes with a first insulating layer therebetween, and a first light-blocking film below the second light-blocking conductive films so as to cover spacing between the second light-blocking conductive films. Each of the second light-blocking films is electrically connected to a corresponding one of the reflective electrodes, and is disposed to cover at least a portion of spacings between the corresponding one of the reflective electrodes and ones of the reflective electrodes adjacent thereto. A second insulating layer is interposed between the first and second light-blocking films, and its thickness is from 150 nm to 450 nm.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device has a circuit for selecting voltage levels based upon display data from an externally-supplied gray-scale voltage varying periodically. The circuit includes a plurality of series combinations of processing circuits. Each of the series combinations is associated with one of video signal lines coupled to pixels, and each of the processing circuits of a respective one of the plural series combinations is associated with a respective one of N display data lines for supplying the display data and with a respective one of plural time control signal lines for supplying time control signals varying in synchronism with the gray-scale voltage. Each of the processing circuits is disposed between two adjacent ones of the N display data lines. The time control signals uniquely determine one level of the gray-scale voltage in combination with the time control signals.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus has horizontal and vertical scanning circuits for scanning an array of pixels. An image signal applied to an image signal supply circuit in the form of series of pixel signals is transferred to pixels in the array of pixels designated by the horizontal and vertical scanning circuits. Each of the horizontal and vertical scanning circuits have a series connection of bidirectional shift register stages and are capable of bidirectional scanning. Each of the bidirectional shift register stages includes a pair of latches connected in tandem and is capable of providing an intermediate output and a shift register stage output. The pair of latches of each of the bidirectional shift register stages except those located at both ends of the series connection have respective intermediate and bidirectional shift register stage outputs contributing to designation of pixels to which pixel signals are to be supplied, while the pair of latches of the shift register stages located at each end of the series connection have their bidirectional shift register stage outputs contributing to such designation of pixels and their intermediate output terminals not contributing to such designation of pixels.

The optical shield film is provided outside of a pixel electrode area and has a width greater than a width of each of the pixel electrode. A resin is deposited over the patterned metal film, and the resin is patterned to form at least one pole spacer and strip spacer. The strip spacer surrounds the pixel electrode area and has a width greater than a diameter of each of pole spacer. Liquid crystal material is supplied into an inside space which is surrounded by the strip spacer, and a sealing material is filled at outer edges of the strip spacer for fixing the drive substrate and a common substrate.

The side edges of the first substrate are fixed between the dichroic prism and the package, whereby the second substrate is supported by the first substrate and not by the package.

摘要： A solid state imaging device composed of a plurality of photo-diodes each of which having a P-N junction. A P-N junction which corresponds to that of a faulty picture cell is destroyed through use of a high energy beam irradiation, such as a laser. Signal data corresponding to that of the destroyed picture cell is detected through use of a voltage comparator which outputs a signal indicative of either a preceding picture cell or that corresponding to a picture cell of a preceding row of picture cells. This system can be used for specific address information. In accordance with the imaging device the defective pixel (picture cell) information appearing in the output signal of the matrix array of photo-diodes, which is at a correspondingly different level from that of ordinary read signals, is detected by a voltage detection circuit and the relief of the defective pixels can be implemented through use of circuits which form the preceding pixel signal information or the pixel signal information corresponding to that of a preceding row. As to implementing the system in connection with a specific address information, the defective pixel signal can also be used as a specific mark representing the display position thereof.
