    摘要: An ergonomically designed pipette tip that can be securely mounted to a barrel of a pipetter yet is designed to substantially reduce the axial force necessary to install and eject the pipette tip from the pipetter. The ergonomic pipette tip includes molded-in expansion joints and/or the addition of a second elastic material to decrease the amount of force necessary to radially expand the entrance to the pipette tip when the pipetter barrel is guided and stability oriented towards the sealing region of the pipette tip. Also disclosed is an ergonomic adapter with similar features as the tip that can also be mounted to the barrel of the pipetter and attached to a standard pipette tip or a combination of tips. Therefore, the relatively small axial forces necessary for mounting and ejecting the new ergonomic tip and adapter can substantially help to reduce the hand and thumb forces, that due to repeated use, will sometimes result in repetitive stress injury.

    摘要: A wastegate valve for use with turbocharged engines. The wastegate valve vents exhaust gasses upstream of the turbocharger high pressure turbine to reduce turbocharger speed and associated boost pressure. The wastegate valve includes a piston attached to a poppet valve and movable within a housing. The housing receives pressurized intake gasses at a side of the piston to actuate the popper valve between open and closed positions. A diaphragm is sealingly disposed between the piston and housing. The housing includes mechanical stop means to limit the piston travel, thereby reducing flexure of the diaphragm. Additionally, the diaphragm is disposed in the housing in such a way that the diaphragm flexes between reduced peak compressive and tensile stresses.

    摘要: A method of atomizing a high solids viscous composition onto a substrate and foaming the composition comprising mixing a coating composition with a gas foaming agent under elevated pressure and temperature. The coating composition is airlessly atomized and projected onto a substrate. The gas remains dissolved in the coating after depositing on the substrate which causes the coating to foam after striking the substrate. The method provides a permanent foam coating composition with uniform cell distribution. The method is particularly suitable for foaming polymeric coatings such as plastisols and foods such as peanut butter or chocolate.

    摘要: An ignition system of an engine has a coil which is spaced away from an igniter to protect the coil from heat of a combustion chamber and combustion gas leakage. The electrical connections between the coil and igniter of current design practice have not performed satisfactorily due to loosening of connections, absorbtion of energy within the connectors and the escape of electrical energy. The present ignition extender overcomes these shortcomings by resiliently biasing a first electrical conducting core into contact with a source of high energy and a second electrical conducting core into contact with an igniter and insulating the first and second electrical conducting cores and a biasing and providng mechanism from the surrounding environment by surrounding them with a first and second telescopingly arranged insulating members. When included in an engine, the extender is combined with a shield to further protect and increase the functional life of the components.

    摘要: A nozzle assembly adapted with an adhesive spray gun for forming a liquid adhesive/gas solution into a foam includes a nozzle formed with a chamber having a rearward end and a forward discharge orifice which is maintained at a pressure less than that required to maintain the gas in solution in the liquid. A turbulence plate having a front surface formed with a notch is mounted to the spray gun such that the notch extends within the rearward end of the chamber. The notch is formed with at least two input ends and a turbulence zone therebetween. The liquid/gas solution is conveyed to each input end of the notch where a separate stream of solution is formed. The streams move along the notch from each input end toward the turbulence zone of the notch where they impact one another within the chamber. Agitation of the liquid/gas solution caused by impacting of the separate streams, in the presence of the reduced pressure within the chamber, results in the partial or initial formation of a homogeneous, closed cell solid foam within the chamber prior to emission from the discharge orifice.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for determining the tuned frequency of a digital repeater (2) solely through the use of external connections. A pulse burst (30) at a preselected transmission frequency, produced by generator circuitry (4), is inserted into repeater (2) to cause the timing circuit of the same to oscillate for a predetermined time interval (25). After burst (30) and during interval (25), a plurality of sequential sampling pulses (26, 27) is fed to repeater (2) and regenerated by same. This format of burst (30) followed by sampling pulses (26, 27) is preferably repeated a number of times. Counter (10) measures the average time interval between the regenerated sampling pulses and determines the tuned frequency.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for a laterally extendable backup light system for placement on the trailer of the 18-wheeler tractor trailer truck device. The light is mounted underneath an outer edge of the trailer of the tractor-trailer so that they would be extendable laterally away from the edge of the trailer so that the light portion of the present invention would extend far enough outwardly to travel beyond the outer edge of the trailer so that the beam of light emanating therefrom would illuminate the area behind the rear of the trailer. An air cylinder operated by an electrical actuator controlled by the driver and/or the transmission of the truck would actuate the light portion so that the light portion would extends from an enclosure and beyond the edge of the trailer of the truck-trailer when the transmission is placed in reverse and then the light portion would be retracted back into the enclosure by an electrical actuator when the transmission is taken out of reverse.
