    摘要: An interferometric device is provided for measurement of the variations in length of a sample under the influence of temperature, the length of the sample being within a plane of reference and a plane of measurement defined by two plane terminal faces of the sample. The device comprises a source of monochromatic light, means to form parallel beams from the light source, a controllable temperature thermostatic enclosure containing a sample holder, a reflecting measurement surface joined to the plane of measurement for receiving one of the beams, a reflecting reference surface for receiving the other beam, a bearing face presented by the sample holder for the terminal reference face of the sample which is elastically applied against the bearing face, and support means for supporting the reflecting reference surface inside the enclosure and ensuring that the variation of distance between the two reflecting surfaces will always be equal to the variation in length of the sample when the temperature of the thermostatic enclosure is varied. The two beams reflected respectively by the two reflecting surfaces are caused to interfere, and a sensor observes and measures interference fringes.

    摘要: A hand-held microwave system for intra-oral dentistry utilizes microwave energy to cure polymer materials intra-orally so as to produce dental composites having improved physical characteristics, and also utilizes microwave energy to detect the presence of and to preferentially heat caries or cavities, thereby disinfecting and therapeutically treating the caries in a potentially non-invasive manner. The intra-oral polymerization process can be accomplished with less overall energy and with composite-matrices that maximally absorb the microwave energy so as to reduce heating of adjacent tissue. The antenna of a hand-held version of the intra-oral microwave system is also advantageously designed to detect the presence of and to preferentially heat caries or cavities, thereby disinfecting and therapeutically treating the caries in a potentially non-invasive manner. A method and product by process for the system are also disclosed.

    摘要: A simplified process for preparation of an alkenylsuccinimide or a polyalkenylsuccinimide is described, characterized in that it comprises successively: a stage (a) in which an alkenylsuccinic anhydride or a polyalkenylsuccinic anhydride is prepared by bringing about an ene-synthesis reaction between at least one olefin or one polyolefin and at least one unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride that is selected from maleic anhydride and the maleic anhydrides that are substituted by 1 or 2 methyl groups, characterized in that said reaction is carried out within at least one aromatic solvent that is selected from toluene and the xylenes that are used at a ratio of between 30 to 70% by weight of the reaction mixture and in which a fraction of said unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride does not react with said olefin or polyolefin; a stage (b) in which the product of stage (a) that contains unsaturated, unreacted dicarboxylic anhydride is reacted with at least one alcohol or an amine; and a stage (c) in which the product that is obtained in stage (b) is reacted with an amine. These succinimides can be used as detergent additives for engine fuels and as ashless dispersing additives for engine lubricants.

    摘要: Integrated analysis process and device for characterization of hydrocarbons in a petroleum product, in distillation fractions, by simulated distillation. The hydrocarbons of a petroleum sample are characterized without fractional distillation by coupling gas chromatography (GC) with liquid chromatography (LC) techniques. GC simulated distillation (SD) is carried out. The separation column is preceded by a precolumn of the same nature but shorter. At the outlet of the main column, retention means (CT, AC) allow to collect and to store one or more light fractions that are sent each to a GC analytical column (6) allowing detailed analysis of the hydrocarbons, and one or more middle fractions. The remaining heavy fraction is collected at the precolumn outlet. The middle and heavy fractions are characterized by a combined LC-GC chromatography unit. Several interfaces allowing GC-GC-LC-GC coupling are described. The process and device can be applied for characterization of reservoir fluids or of refining process effluents for example.
