摘要: A two-piece hammertoe compression device is disclosed for the correction of a hammer toe deformity. The two-piece hammertoe compression device provides polyaxial motion between the device components allowing angulation of the joint for fusion. Further, the two-piece hammertoe compression device includes a distal component and a proximal component secured together. The distal component has an externally-threaded anchor with an embedded socket component. The proximal component includes an internally and externally-threaded anchor. Additionally, the embedded socket component has a ball insert component to allow for polyaxial movement and variable angle fixation at the joint.

摘要: A graft-harvesting instrument and MTP fusion device are disclosed to allow for easy and safe removal of a section of the calcaneus to be used as autograft in the fusion of the MTP joint. The graft-harvesting instrument allows a surgeon to place a barrier between the saw and the vital anatomy on the medial side of the calcaneus. The MTP fusion device allows for the exact placement of the autograft into the MTP joint. The graft-harvesting instrument allows for a very consistent piece of autograft to be harvested. The graft-retaining sleeve component of the MTP fusion device positions that autograft in place for optimum fusion of the MTP joint.

摘要: A posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) implant that comprises a body with substantially parallel posterior and anterior sidewalls, and a pair of superior and inferior faces. The implant is inserted via an insertion tool within a depression in the sidewalls of the implant. The insertion tool is secured to the side walls of the implant to prevent any bending or breaking of the implant or the inserter during implantation. Once inserted, the implant may be rotated approximately 90 degrees within the disc space. Because of the shape and size of the implant, the effective height of the implant within a patient's disc space is increased upon rotation.

The invention further discloses a carrier for viewing a plurality of implants, and associated reading systems for reading a plurality of implants. Finally, the invention discloses methods for reading a plurality of implantable devices retained within a carrier.

摘要: A bone staple and integral insertion device that provides biocompatibility, increased strength, and cost effectiveness is disclosed. Once the bone staple is inserted the desired depth into the bone, the arms of the insertion device are spread apart thereby applying the desired amount of compression to the bone staple. The insertion device can then be broken free from the bone staple, and removed from the patient. In this manner, the amount of compression between the broken ends of the bone can be regulated directly by the surgeon during implantation of the bone staple.

摘要: Coating defects are overcome which occur in the prior art as a result of positional tolerance variations between an automatic spraying device and a part, as the part, e.g., an automobile body, is transported along a conveying system into the spray booth of a coating station during a series coating operation using lacquering robots to apply paint. The distance between at least one fixed reference point on the coating apparatus and a reference point on the automobile body is measured during a preparatory coating operation and stored in the processing program of an operation controlling computer as a standard reference distance value. The reference distance is remeasured for each automobile body during subsequent series coating operations and then compared to the standard reference distance value. The processing program then corrects the movements of the lacquering robots as a function of the calculated deviation to elimate the coating defects arising out of positional tolerance variations.
