Abstract: A non-contacting position detecting apparatus includes a laser unit having a light emitting portion and a light receiving portion for irradiating laser light upon a detection point of a subject for measurement and receiving laser light reflected from the detection point to recognize the distance to the detection point. An arm is capable of moving the laser unit in the direction of at least one axis of a rectangular coordinate system. A coordinate detecting member is provided for detecting coordinates of the arm. Coordinates of the detection point are recognized in accordance with the coordinates of the arm when the positional relationship between the detection point and the laser unit reaches a predetermined relationship. The laser unit includes a needle-like indicating member for indicating the crossing point between extension lines of an optic axis of laser light radiated from the light emitting portion and an optic axis of laser light received by the light receiving portion when the detection point and the laser unit reach the predetermined positional relationship.

Abstract: A method of controlling the rolling efficiency in a continuous hot rolling process including the steps of inputting a total weight of and the time intervals of slabs already extracted from a heating furnace in a period from the present time up to any previous time, a total weight and a forecast furnace residence time of slabs charged in the heating furnace and a total weight of any number of slabs to be charged, and calculating the desired rolling efficiency of the slabs to be charged to thereby control the overall average rolling efficiency to a predetermined value. With such a method, the total weight of the slabs to be rolled in a unit time is maintained to a predetermined value.

Abstract: Disclosed is an inductance part including a coiled conductor formed from a metal conductor, a magnetic body formed by pressure-molding a mixture of metal magnetic powder and bonding material in such a manner that the coiled conductor is embedded in the mixture, and a terminal derived from the coiled conductor. The coiled conductor is formed in a single layer with no insulating film on its surface. The metal magnetic powder of the magnetic body penetrates into the surface of the coiled conductor so as to make the filling factor of the metal magnetic powder in the magnetic body not less than 80% by volume.
