Abstract:
A control system selectively controls the operation of at least one lamp and at least one garage door opener. The control system includes a control module. The control module includes connectors adapted to be coupled to at least one lamp through household AC power conductors. The control module also includes terminals adapted to be connected to a garage door opener mechanism. A circuit positioned in the control module receives and identifies radio frequency signals, stores control information associated with a plurality of received signals from a remote control in a training mode and outputs control signals for communication over the AC power line and the garage door mechanism in accordance with the stored control signals when one of said remote control signals is received in an operating mode. The control module also includes a selector used to select garage door and/or light control operations to be associated with a signal received by the control module in a training mode.
Abstract:
A vehicle structural accessory includes one or more electronic accessories. One electrical accessory which may be provided is an electronically trainable transmitter which is trainable to generate a control signal which will actuate a garage door opening mechanism. Another electronic accessory which may be included is an electronic compass. Yet another device is an electronically adjustable mirror having parameters set for each driver of a vehicle. The electronically adjustable rearview mirror and the electronically trainable garage door opener may be advantageously provided with a keyless entry system.

Abstract:
A vehicle control system includes a microcontroller based switch programmable module which allows a variety of different vehicle options to be selectively actuated by different vehicle users. In one embodiment a remote transmitter provides a unique user code and the control system includes the capability of programming the transmitter code to allow use of multiple transmitters with different codes for different users.
Abstract:
A foldable mounting assembly for a vehicle accessory includes a base attached to a vehicle headliner and having a stem extending therefrom for attachment of a vehicle accessory such as a rearview mirror to an end of the stem opposite the base. A spring-loaded cam cooperatively interconnects the end of the stem to the base such that the stem and accessory attached thereto can be moved from a stored position closely adjacent the headliner for shipment thereof to a lowered locked-in-place use position.
Abstract:
An illuminated vanity mirror visor includes a light-transmitting housing which allows the utilization of a single light source such as a bulb which can be located behind the mirror to transmit light to opposite sides of the mirror through integral lenses for directing the light outwardly for use of the mirror in low ambient light conditions. The light-transmitting housing includes opposed spaced and curved light collecting surfaces at legs which extend towards opposite ends of the housing and terminate in integrally molded lens. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the light source mounted between the facing spaced surfaces of the light-transmitting housing is rotatably mounted and includes multi-colored surfaces such that the color temperature of the light can be varied to provide different lighting effects for the user.
Abstract:
A headrest assembly includes a support plate attached to a seat and to which a head engaging padded member is movably attached. A pivot coupling extends between the plate and headrest for controlling the movement of the padded headrest toward and away from the support plate. In order to move the headrest, a fluid cylinder such as a pneumatic bellows is interposed between the support plate and the headrest.
Abstract:
A visor mounting structure includes a visor rod having a locking member secured to the rod to provide a predetermined rotational torque between the rod and the locking member. The locking member includes tabs extending outwardly for engaging one side of the sheet metal roof of a vehicle when installed. The assembly also includes a cover plate extending over the visor rod and axially spaced from the locking member and including tabs engaging an opposite side of the roof. When the locking member is inserted in the sheet metal roof and rotated to an engaging position, the cover plate is secured thereto to compressibly clamp the assembly in position in the vehicle, thereby mounting the visor attached to the visor rod to the vehicle.
Abstract:
A height-adjustable support apparatus supports items above a user's lap while seated or reclining. The apparatus includes a bottom panel with optional pillow for resting on a seated user's lap, a top panel with upright rests configured to support items (such as electronic devices) at a desired angle of use, a four-bar linkage for moving the top panel between height-adjusted positions while maintaining a same horizontal orientation, and a lock engaging slots in the bottom panel for fixing a selected height-adjusted position of the top panel. Rests on the top panel are made of bent wire and can be selectively pivoted to upright positions for supporting devices, such as a cell phone, tablet computers, books, game displays, etc. A cup holder engages a rest on the top panel to support either a handled container (such as a mug) or no-handle container (such as a soda can).
