摘要: There is provided a secondary zinc battery including: a unit cell including; a positive-electrode plate including a positive-electrode active material layer and a positive-electrode collector; a negative-electrode plate including a negative-electrode active material layer containing zinc and a negative-electrode collector; a layered double hydroxide (LDH) separator covering or wrapping around the entire negative-electrode active material layer; and an electrolytic solution. The positive-electrode collector has a positive-electrode collector tab extending from one edge of the positive-electrode active material layer, and the negative-electrode collector has a negative-electrode collector tab extending from the opposite edge of the negative-electrode active material layer and beyond a vertical edge of the LDH separator. The unit cell can thereby collects electricity from the positive-electrode collector tab and the negative-electrode collector tab. The LDH separator has at least two continuous closed edges, provided that an edge, adjacent to the negative-electrode collector tab, of the LDH separator is open.

摘要: Provided is a highly reliable nickel-zinc battery including a separator exhibiting hydroxide ion conductivity and water impermeability. The separator is disposed in a hermetic container to separate a positive-electrode chamber accommodating a positive electrode and a positive-electrode electrolyte from a negative-electrode chamber accommodating a negative electrode and a negative-electrode electrolyte. The positive-electrode chamber has an extra positive-electrode space having a volume that meets a variation in amount of water in association with reaction at the positive electrode during charge and discharge of the battery, and the negative-electrode chamber has an extra negative-electrode space having a volume meeting a variation in amount of water in association with reaction at the negative electrode during charge and discharge of the battery. The nickel-zinc battery further includes a gas flow channel that connects the extra positive-electrode space to the extra negative-electrode space such that the spaces are in gas communication with each other.

摘要: Provided is a highly reliable nickel-zinc battery, which includes a separator exhibiting hydroxide ion conductivity and water impermeability. The separator is disposed in a hermetic container to separate a positive-electrode chamber from a negative-electrode chamber. The positive-electrode chamber has an extra positive-electrode space having a volume that meets part of a variation in amount of water in association with the positive electrode reaction, and the negative-electrode chamber has an extra negative-electrode space having a volume that meets part of a variation in amount of water in association with the negative electrode reaction. The battery further includes a gas-liquid flow channel that connects the extra positive-electrode space to the extra negative-electrode space, and the gas-liquid flow channel allows the electrolytic solution and gas in the positive-electrode and negative-electrode chambers to pass through the flow channel in response to a variation in amount of water caused by charge and discharge reactions.

摘要: Provided is a zinc-air secondary battery including an air electrode; a negative electrode containing zinc, a zinc alloy, and/or a zinc compound; an aqueous electrolytic solution in which the negative electrode is immersed; a container having an opening and accommodating the negative electrode and the electrolytic solution; and a separator disposed to cover the opening and having hydroxide ion conductivity, water impermeability, and gas impermeability, the separator being in contact with the electrolytic solution and defining a hermetic space with the container such that the air electrode is separated from the electrolytic solution by the separator through which hydroxide ions pass. The hermetic space has an extra space having a volume that meets a variation in amount of water in association with reaction at the negative electrode during charge and discharge of the battery. The present invention provides a highly reliable zinc-air secondary battery.

摘要: There is provided a secondary zinc battery including: (a) at least one unit cell including; a positive electrode; a negative-electrode structure including a negative-electrode active material layer containing at least one selected from the group consisting of elemental zinc, zinc oxide, zinc alloys, and zinc compounds; a LDH separator including a porous substrate composed of a polymeric material and layered double hydroxide (LDH); and an electrolytic solution; and (b) a pressuring unit compacting the unit cell to bring the negative-electrode structure in close contact with the LDH separator. Pores of the porous substrate are filled with the LDH such that the LDH separator is hydroxide-ion-conductive and gas-impermeable. The LDH separator separates the positive electrode from the negative-electrode active material layer.

The alkali metal hydroxide concentration of the positive-electrode electrolytic solution differs from that of the negative-electrode electrolytic solution.

摘要: Provided is a secondary battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an alkaline electrolytic solution, a separator structure, and a resin container. The separator structure includes a ceramic separator composed of an inorganic solid electrolyte exhibiting hydroxide ion conductivity and optionally a resin frame and/or resin film disposed to surround the periphery of the ceramic separator. The separator structure is bonded to the resin container with an adhesive, and/or the ceramic separator is bonded to the resin frame and/or the resin film with the adhesive. The adhesive is selected from an epoxy resin adhesive, a natural resin adhesive, a modified olefin resin adhesive, and a modified silicone resin adhesive, and the adhesive exhibits a variation in weight of 5% or less after immersed, in a solidified form, in a 9 mol/L aqueous KOH solution at 25° C. for 672 hours.
