Abstract:
The invention relates to a polypeptide containing a sequence of contiguous amino acids of the polypeptide sequence coded by exon 17 of the cDNA of the APP 770 gene, with said sequence of contiguous amino acids being such that:it has from 5 to the total number of amino acids coded by said exon 17,and it contains the amino acid corresponding to codon 692 in the cDNA of the APP 770 gene and which is alanine substituted for glycine. Abstract:
The implant includes two side walls resting against the vertebral end-plates and an intermediate wall joining the supporting walls. The implant can be deformed for insertion between the vertebrae to be treated to restore the attenuated mobility of the vertebrae, and includes mounting elements mounting on the vertebrae. The side walls have a curved shape, whose convexity is oriented towards the outside of the implant; the intermediate wall has a curved shape, whose convexity is oriented towards the outside of the implant such that it does not form any pronounced angles with the supporting side walls. The supporting side walls and the intermediate wall, have a partially oval shape; and the mounting elements are configured such that the implant can be mounted on the vertebrae.
Abstract:
This method comprises the use of a repair equipment including a humeral rod (2) intended to be placed in the medullary cavity of the humerus, comprising at least one hole (6) for receiving a thread (11) for repositioning the tuberosities (101, 102) and for maintaining the latter with respect to the rest of the bone. Said hole (6) is formed in the metaphyseal portion of the humeral rod (2), in the anteroposterior direction thereof; and the repair equipment further comprises a so-called “guying” subassembly (3), to maintain the tuberosities (101, 102) when they re-installed, two second so-called “traction” subassemblies (4), for pulling of the tuberosities (101, 102) one toward the other, and two so-called third “pressing” subassemblies (5), for tackling the tuberosities (101, 102); each of these sub-assemblies comprises a needle and thread (11) connected to this needle, this thread (11) forming a loop.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the in-vitro diagnosis of chromosomal anomalies liable to be correlated with CMT1a disease. The invention also relates to probes intended in this in-vitro diagnosis process and to kits containing said probes. The probes of the invention can contain a sequence constituted of from about 15 successive nucleotides of a Not1 fragment, with said Not1 fragment having 1.2.times.10.sup.6 base pairs and being obtained after digesting human DNA of patients with Not1, separating the fragments resulting from digestion by pulsed field gel electrophoresis and hybridizing the resulting fragments with any of the probes VAW409, EW401 or VAW412 or their derivatives, to about the total number of the successive nucleotides of the Not1 fragment. The probes enable the detection of the duplication of a part of chromosome 17p.
Abstract:
A bone screw having a threaded proximal portion, a threaded median portion, and a threaded distal portion. The threaded proximal portion has a proximal thread with a constant diameter and a proximal pitch. The threaded median portion has a median thread with a constant diameter smaller than the diameter of the proximal thread and a median pitch that becomes increasingly smaller from a distal end of the threaded median portion towards a proximal end of the threaded median portion The threaded distal portion has a distal thread having a constant diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the median thread and a distal pitch that is larger than the median pitch at the distal end of the threaded median portion.

Abstract:
The invention relates to equipment for repairing biological tissue, such as a tendon or a ligament and, in particular, the calcanean tendon. The inventive equipment comprises a link (3) and elements (5) which are used to stop the link (3) in relation to the fragments of tissue to be repaired. According to the invention: (i) one of the aforementioned stop elements comprises a bone screw (2) which can be implanted in a bone surrounding the tissue to be repaired, for example in the calcaneum in order to repair the calcanean tendon; (ii) the above-mentioned link (3) forms a tubular part (6) in which one part of the screw (2) can be tightly inserted along with at least two cords (4) which can be inserted through the fragments of the biological tissue to be repaired, for example the two fragments of a broken calcanean tendon; and (iii) other stop elements comprise at least two stop buttons (5).
