Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to youth electric recreational vehicles. In some embodiments, a youth recreational vehicle, comprises: one or more front ground engaging members, one or more rear ground engaging members, and a frame supported by the one or more front ground engaging members and the one or more rear ground engaging members. In addition, the youth recreational vehicle comprises a seat supported by the frame and configured to support at least one rider and an electric powertrain. The electric powertrain is configured to drive at least one of: (i) the one or more front ground engaging members and (ii) the one or more rear ground engaging members. The electric powertrain comprises: a controller, at least one electric motor, and at least one battery pack.

Abstract: A vehicle control system is disclosed for modifying vehicle operation and includes an engine control unit having at least one processor. A vehicle network is provided as well as a first handheld wireless device having a GPS module, a local wireless communication module, and a distance wireless communication module. A gauge has a wireless communication module operable to communicate with the first handheld wireless device and at least one display for communicating information to a user regarding vehicle operating parameters. Memory accessible by the processor and memory having software stored thereon are provided, the software being configured for execution by the processor and including instructions for providing a boundary map within which the vehicle may operate under normal operating conditions. The vehicle is placed in a degraded operating mode if the vehicle moves outside of the boundary.

Abstract: A helmet for communicating with a vehicle function controller and method for operating the same has a first memory, a first transmitter, a first receiver and a first controller in communication with the first memory, the first transmitter and the first receiver. The first receiver receives a plurality of vehicle function settings. The first memory stores the vehicle function settings within a memory of the helmet. The first transmitter communicates the vehicle function settings from the first memory to the vehicle function controller.

Abstract: A system for regulating the speed of a vehicle includes defining a first border for a first geographic region. The border has a first speed within the border and a second speed outside of the border. The system includes determining a first velocity of the vehicle including a vehicle speed and direction of the vehicle approaching the border. The difference between the vehicle speed and the second speed is the calculated, as is a distance between the vehicle and the border. If the difference between the vehicle speed and the second speed divided by the distance is greater than a predetermined value, the vehicle is decelerated at a rate so that the vehicle will have a second speed when the vehicle reaches the border.
