Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In one method, a wireless device may securely communicate with a local area network (LAN), via a first connection with a source access node (AN), based on a first security key. The wireless device may perform a handover from the source AN to a target AN. The wireless device may derive a second security key based on the first security key, and securely communicate with the LAN, via a second connection with the target AN, based on the second security key and a restriction policy for the second security key. The wireless device may perform an authentication procedure to obtain a third security key, which may not be subject to the restriction policy, and securely communicate with the LAN, via the second connection with the target AN, based on the third security key.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a policy containing information on filtering and processing of discovery messages over a wireless interface. The policy may be received from a cellular network or from a network server. The apparatus determines a set of filtering rules and a set of processing rules based on the policy. The apparatus may store the set of filtering rules and the set of processing rules. Upon receiving a discovery message on a device-to-device communication channel, the apparatus applies the set of filtering rules to the discovery message. The device-to-device communication channel may be a wireless communication channel. The apparatus may apply the set of processing rules to the discovery message in response to the discovery message passing the set of filtering rules. The apparatus may rebroadcast the processed discovery message.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may act as a relay device and receive a message from a source device. The message may be a broadcast message and may include a service type indicator. The UE may identify a capability configuration for the UE that is associated with the UE communicating via a first air interface with the source device and at least one other air interface. The UE may establish a connection to the source device on the air interface based on the capability configuration and the service type indicator.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In an aspect, method operations for broadcasting a first signal comprising a first expression code in association with availability of location information of a UE; determining the location information associated with the UE; determining a second expression code associated with the location information; and broadcasting a second signal comprising the second expression code and the location information, independent of the first signal. In another aspect, a method includes the operations of receiving, from a second UE, a first signal comprising a first expression code associated with the second UE; determining a second expression code based on the received first signal; receiving a second signal from the second UE, the second signal comprising the second expression code; and determining a location of the second UE based on the received second signal and the determined second expression code.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for congestion control are provided. The apparatus measures respective signal qualities in at least two regions of a resource block, compares the respective signal qualities to each other, and determines a network congestion level based on the comparison. In an aspect, the apparatus may further decide whether to use resources respectively included in the at least two regions based on the network congestion level. Alternatively, the apparatus may further identify at least one MTC device or UE to refrain from using resources respectively included in the at least two regions when the network congestion level is above a threshold, and transmit a congestion control signal to the at least one identified MTC device or identified UE when the network congestion level is above the threshold.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication system are provided. A connection point may discover a mobile node, send to a gateway a request to increase an amount of power that the connection point can consume to service the discovered mobile node, and receive from the gateway a response related to the request to increase the amount of power. In an aspect, a gateway receives from a first connection point a request to change an amount of power that the first connection point is allowed to consume to service a discovered mobile node, determines whether to accept the request from the first connection point, and sends a first command to increase the amount of power that the first connection point is allowed to consume to service the discovered mobile node if the request is accepted.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses and systems are described for conveying location information from an announcing user device to a listening user device engaged in ProSe discovery communications. The announcing user device may use a first expression to broadcast an initial announcement, and then use a second expression to broadcast the location of the announcing user device. The first expression may be in the form of a public expression while the second expression may be in the form of a private expression.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for expedited Internet content delivery. For example, there is provided a method that involves receiving, at a communication device, a broadcast transmission outside of a spectrum allocated for Internet communications and outside of a spectrum allocated for real time programming content, wherein the broadcast transmission includes unsolicited content pushed to a group of such communication devices. The method may involve storing a portion of the unsolicited content, and receiving a request for content from a user. The method may involve providing the portion of the unsolicited content to the user, in response to the requested content matching the portion. The method nay involve determining whether the requested content is stored on another communication device of the group, in response to the requested content not matching the portion.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a packet data network (PDN)-connectivity session to a PDN using a cellular radio access technology (RAT) and migrate the PDN-connectivity session from a source access node (AN) to a target AN. Migration may initiate when a decision to perform a handover is made. The target AN may receive a network address and information about a first data radio link established between the UE and source AN. The target AN may establish a second data radio link with the UE based at least in part on the first data radio link information, and may transmit, to the PDN, a path update including the network address and an updated path via the target AN. In some cases, the target AN may forward packets between the UE and the PDN via the second data radio link.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A serving base station may determine a handover loss metric associated with a UE that is a candidate for handover. The handover loss metric may be based on connection parameters associated with the serving base station and a target base station, respectively. The serving base station may identify, based on the handover loss metric, a type of handover procedure to perform. The serving base station may perform the handover procedure of the UE to the target base station according to the identified handover type.
