Abstract:
In a powder formulation for use in a dry powder inhaler, a pharmaceutical acts as its own carrier, so that use of lactose or other excipients are not needed. The dry powder formulation has a single active pharmaceutical compound having two major populations in particle size distribution: microfine particles of the active pharmaceutical, of 1-10 microns in diameter, and larger carrier particles, also of the active pharmaceutical compound. The carrier particles provide a long acting, delayed onset, and optionally therapeutic effect via the GI tract, while the microfine particles provide a fast onset effect via the lung.
Abstract:
Methods and thermowell systems that can be uses in high dynamic pressure environments. A thermocouple system includes a thermowell configured to enter a structure through which a medium flows; an elongated probe provided partially inside the thermowell and configured to measure a temperature; at least one o-ring disposed around the elongated probe at a first end, the o-ring being configured to dampen a vibration for the elongated probe by contacting the thermowell; and an elastomer disposed around the elongated probe section at a second end, the elastomer being configured to dampen the vibration for the elongated probe by contacting the thermowell.
Abstract:
A merchandise display security tether includes a mounting base, a releasable adhesive for releasably attaching the mounting base to an article of merchandise, and a housing configured to be positioned over the mounting base and a releasing portion of the releasable adhesive. The housing is secured to the mounting base by a tamper-proof fastener to prevent access to the releasing portion of the releasable adhesive. The security tether further includes a security cable having a first end attached to the housing and a second end for attachment to a merchandise display. The housing is removable by a special tool to expose the releasing portion of the releasable adhesive. The releasing portion is pulled to release the mounting base and the article of merchandise without damage to the merchandise and without leaving an adhesive residue on the merchandise.
Abstract:
A merchandise display security device for an article of merchandise having an audio cord includes an electrical control circuit for producing a sense loop in the audio cord, monitoring a non-alarming state and an alarming state of the sense loop, and activating an alarm in the event that the sense loop changes from the non-alarming state to the alarming state. In one embodiment, the device includes a security sensor adapted for being attached to a media player. The security sensor has an audio jack for receiving an audio plug on the audio cord and includes an audio connector cord having an audio plug for engaging an audio jack on the media player. The security sensor may be electrically connected to an alarming base by a sense cord and include a power adapter cord for providing power to the media player through the sense cord and the power adapter cord.
Abstract:
A surgical instrument is configured for determining the size and/or height of an intervertebral implant insertable into an intervertebral space between two adjacent vertebral bodies of two human or animal vertebrae. The implant includes a first abutment element for abutment against an articular surface of one of the two adjacent vertebral bodies and a second abutment element supported directly or indirectly on the first abutment element for abutment against an articular surface of the other of the two adjacent vertebral bodies. The instrument includes a holding part defining a longitudinal direction and at least one test implant, which includes a first and a second test-implant abutment element each having at least one abutment surface for abutment against one of the articular surfaces. A distal end of the holding part includes at least one abutment-element holding element for detachable connection to the at least one test implant 149.
