    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an information processing apparatus and an information processing method, and a program that can signal region information of a full sphere picture in a more variety of projection formats. The region information expresses a region on a spherical surface by signaling a plurality of vertexes on the spherical surface and by connecting the vertexes by shortest distances on the spherical surface. Alternatively, the region information expresses a region on a spherical surface by signaling surface regions in accordance with a number of surfaces, the surface regions being formed by signaling a plurality of vertexes on the spherical surface and by connecting the vertexes by shortest distances on the spherical surface. The present technology is applicable to a distribution system that performs network distribution of the full sphere picture by MPEG-DASH, for example.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a decoding device, a decoding method, an encoding device, and an encoding method, which are capable of enabling a decoding side to accurately recognize a color gamut of an encoding target image. The decoding device includes circuitry configured to receive an encoded stream including encoded data of an image and color primary information indicating a coordinate of at least one color primary of the image. The circuitry extracts the encoded data and the color primary information from the received encoded stream. The circuitry decodes the encoded data to generate the image. Further, the circuitry adjusts a color space of the generated image based on the extracted color primary information. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, a decoding device of a high efficiency video coding (HEVC) scheme.

A recording medium, on which the reproduction device of one aspect of the present technology performs reproduction, records coded data of an extended video that is a video having a second brightness range that is wider than a first brightness range, brightness characteristic information that represents a brightness characteristic of the extended video, and brightness conversion definition information used when performing a brightness conversion of the extended video to a standard video that is a video having the first brightness range. The reproduction device decodes the coded data and converts the extended video obtained by decoding the coded data to the standard video on the basis of the brightness conversion definition information.
