Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a system and a method of accessing a system. An embodiment is a system including an imaging system including a controller and a first camera, the controller having a communication connection configured to transmit or receive content or control signals, and a mobile device including a second camera, the mobile device having a communication interface configured to transmit or receive content or control signals with the controller, the controller being configured to compare images from the first and second cameras to allow access to the controller from the mobile device.
Abstract:
Multicast transmissions do not allow for individual receivers to acknowledge that data was received by each receiver in the network. This is not acceptable for isochronous systems that require specific levels of QoS for each device. A multimedia communications protocol supports using multicast transmissions (one-to-many) in multimedia isochronous systems. A transmitter establishes a Multi-ACKed Multicast protocol within which a group of receiving devices can acknowledge the multicast transmission during a multi-acknowledgment period.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a method of operating an arc fault detection system, an arc fault detection system, and a system. An embodiment is a method of operating an arc fault detection system coupled to a power line, the method including determining one or more arc fault detection windows in power line signals on the power line, the power line signals comprising a communication signal and an alternating current (AC) power signal. The method further includes receiving the power line signals from the power line during the one or more arc fault detection windows, and performing arc fault detection processing on the received power line signals.
Abstract:
In accordance with an embodiment, a network device includes a network controller and at least one network interface coupled to the network controller that includes at least one media access control (MAC) device configured to be coupled to at least one physical layer interface (PHY). The network controller may be configured to determine a network path comprising the at least one network interface that has a lowest power consumption and minimum security attributes of available media types coupled to the at least one PHY.
Abstract:
A powerline communication system includes a plurality of rail segments. Each of the rail segments is electrically isolated from other rail segments, and each receives power from a rail segment power supply. At least one cart operates on the rail segments. The cart has a powerline communications controller. Each rail segment has a current state defined by how many and which carts are operating on the rail segment. A central coordinator is coupled to each rail segment and configured to execute a channel estimation using a sounding protocol on its rail segment. The central coordinators store tone maps associated with the possible states of its rail segment, and possibly its adjacent rail segment. A main controller communicates with each central coordinator to direct the state and future state of its segment so that tone maps and network keys can be managed by the CCo in advance of an imminent state change. The main controller or CCo may also execute channel estimation using a sounding protocol and cause updated tone map information to be sent to each central coordinator in advance of an imminent state change.
Abstract:
A hybrid communications network system uses the propagation limitations of Visible Light Communications (VLC) to define location data for portable VLC devices. The location data can be used with specific location-based profiles to provide location-based services to functional zones. The hybrid communications allow location data and connectivity to be available among other communications technologies on the hybrid network.
Abstract:
An intelligent lighting and sensor system is disclosed that includes a processor, a memory arranged to store program logic software, the program logic software executable by the processor, a light control module in communication with at least one light source in which the operation of the light control module is directed according to the program logic software that is executed by the processor, and a sensor interface in communication with a plurality of sensor devices in which the operation of the sensor interface is directed according to the program logic software that is executed by the processor.

Abstract:
In accordance with an embodiment, a method of operating an electronic system includes detecting an incoming transmission on a power line, and modifying a switching behavior of a switched-mode power supply coupled to the power line upon detecting the incoming transmission. Modifying reduces the level of interference produced by the switched-mode power supply.
