摘要: A method for fabricating a glass substrate for information recording media. A uniform texture can be formed in a major surface of the glass substrate without degrading the smoothness of the major surface. The method comprises a step of forming a texture in a major surface of a disk-shaped glass substrate by lapping the major surface with a lapping member while supplying an abrasive material onto the major surface. In the step, the glass substrate is reciprocated in a radial direction while rotating the glass substrate around its center at a predetermine rotational speed. The rotational speed, the reciprocating speed, and the reciprocation stroke are so determined that the locus of every particle of the abrasive material crosses itself at least at three points.

摘要: A light source device for an endoscope provided with a noncircular opening which is capable of stabilizing the rate of change of the quantity of illuminating light with the quantity of movement of the stop blade and thereby preventing the hunting phenomenon of the stop blade in close-up or the like. The device comprises: a gate portion with a noncircular opening for linearly changing the quantity of light from the light source formed therein; a stop blade for controlling the quantity of light passing through the noncircular opening of the gate portion; and a motor for driving the stop blade. The noncircular opening has two V-shaped portions having different opening angles. The stop blade is provided with a circular auxiliary opening for passing part of the light therethrough. Owing to the V-shaped portions and the auxiliary opening, a change of the quantity of output light with the amount of movement of the stop blade is made linear and the hunting phenomenon of the stop blade is prevented even in the region where the quantity of light is regulated to a small quantity.

摘要: A sealing structure in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a gasket which is clamped between a cylinder head and a flange fastened to the cylinder head and which has a sealing portion surrounding an exhaust port opening into a side of the cylinder head, and an exhaust pipe which is curved and coupled to the flange and which is in communication with the exhaust port. In this sealing structure, the sealing portion of the gasket is formed into an endless shape to surround said exhaust port, such that the distance between the sealing portion and a peripheral edge of the exhaust port, at least at a location substantially corresponding to a projected position of the exhaust pipe on the flange, is larger than the distance at other locations. Thus, it is possible to prevent or minimize the deterioration of the sealing portion of the gasket due to heat, while avoiding an increase in size of the section associated with the exhaust system.

摘要: An optical disc recording system can record data on a writable type optical disc and reproduce the recorded data by utilizing a playback device adapted exclusively for playing back a standardized unwritable optical disc such as a Compact Disc. The optical disc recording system comprises a recording medium and a recording device. The recording medium consists of an optical disc having its recording surface made of a material which is writable with a semiconductor laser and has a relatively high rate of laser beam reflection, having a mechanical size like or compatible with the standard size of an optical disc for playback only and having a pregroove of a relatively small depth. The recording device comprises a data signal outputting circuit for outputting an input signal to be recorded at a predetermined transfer speed as a data signal of a mark length recording system compatible with a standard format of the optical disc for playback only, a drive control circuit for driving the recording medium at a standard speed of the optical disc for playback only and controlling positions of the recording medium and the semiconductor laser so as to be compatible with a standard track pitch of the optical disc for playback only, and a laser control circuit for controlling the irradiation state of the semiconductor laser in accordance with the output of the data signal outputting circuit. The recording medium recorded by the recording device is played back by utilizing a playback device for the optical disc for playback only.

摘要: A semiconductor image sensor which comprises a plurality of image sensor cells, each having a photosensing and accumulation region of an n.sup.+ -p.sup.- -(i)-p.sup.+ -n.sup.+ (or p.sup.+ -n.sup.- -(i)-n.sup.+ -p.sup.+) hook structure which is formed by sequentially forming its respective regions in a semiconductor substrate inwardly thereof from its surface. The photosensing and accumulation regions are isolated by insulating isolation regions from adjacent ones of them. A tapering conductive region, which acts as an electric field lens on charged carriers, is formed to extend into a high resistivity layer of the photosensing region from the end face of each insulating isolation region on the side of the semiconductor substrate.

摘要: In a radiation image recording and reproducing method in which a radiation image is once recorded in a stimulable phosphor and then read out and reproduced into a visible image, noise developing in the visible image due to repeated use of the stimulable phosphor is effectively erased by the combined use of first and second erasing steps. The first erasing is conducted to erase the radiation image previously stored in the phosphor, which requires a long period to erase, at an appropriate point of time after the phosphor is once used. The second erasing is carried out quickly to erase the fog, which develops in the phosphor after the first erasing, immediately before the phosphor is to be used for the next radiographic operation.
