Abstract:
A method for preparing an activated catalyst composition comprising a single site catalyst precursor and an activating cocatalyst, which comprises contacting outside of a polymerization reactor a single site catalyst precursor with an activating cocatalyst before, during, or after contacting the single site catalyst precursor with a weakly coordinating electron donor such as 1-hexene.
Abstract:
An enhanced process for the production of a dianhydrosugar, such as isosorbide, from the corresponding sugar alcohol is described. The sugar alcohol is combined with an acid catalyst and reacted at elevated temperatures and at atmospheric pressure, eliminating the need for a vacuum. High selectivity and yields are achieved.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process to polymerize olefins comprising reacting olefins with a catalyst system comprising an activator, a metallocene and a second metal compound based on bidentate ligands containing heterocycle moieties.
Abstract:
Catalyst compositions and methods, useful in polymerization processes, utilizing at least two metal compounds are disclosed. At least one of the metal compounds is a Group 15 containing metal compound and the other metal compound is preferably a bulky ligand metallocene-type catalyst. The invention also discloses a new polyolefin, generally polyethylene, particularly a multimodal polymer and more specifically, a bimodal polymer, and its use in various end-use applications such as film, molding and pipe.

This invention relates to a process to polymerize olefins comprising reacting olefins with a catalyst system comprising an activator, a metallocene and a second metal compound based on bidentate ligands containing heterocycle moieties.
Abstract:
This invention relates in part to processes for producing one or more substituted or unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols which comprise subjecting one or more substituted or unsubstituted penten-1-ols to reductive hydroformylation in the presence of a reductive hydroformylation catalyst, e.g., a metal-organophosphorus ligand complex catalyst, to produce said one or more substituted or unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols. The substituted and unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols produced by the processes of this invention can undergo further reaction(s) to afford desired derivatives thereof, e.g., epsilon caprolactone. This invention also relates in part to reaction mixtures containing one or more substituted or unsubstituted 1,6-hexanediols as principal product(s) of reaction.
Abstract:
The effluent from an acid esterification of free fatty acid with alkanol to produce alkyl ester of fatty acid is contacted with glycerin to remove water and alkanol. The alkanol separated with the glycerin can be recycled to the acid esterification by contacting the glycerin with fatty acid-containing feed being passed to the acid esterification.
Abstract:
Basic metal salt of glycerin is used as transesterification catalyst or an intermediate to an anhydrous transesterification catalyst for the base catalyzed process for making biodiesel from fats and oils.
Abstract:
Biodiesel is used to extract glycerides from biomass derived sources and the extractant containing biodiesel and glycerides is subjected to ester-forming conditions including the presence of lower alkanol to produce biodiesel, a portion of which is used for the extraction of glycerides.
