摘要： Compositions, articles and methods are provided for supplying fabric care benefits to clothing or fabrics in an automated washing machine and by manual washing. The fabric care compositions preferably have less than about 5% detergent surfactants, more preferably less than 3%, even more preferably less than 1% and are most preferably free of detergent surfactants. Similarly, the fabric care compositions preferably have less than about 5% fabric softener actives, more preferably less than 3%, even more preferably less than 1% and are most preferably free of detergent surfactants. The laundry articles can take a variety of forms in a variety of physical states all of which will rapidly dispense a unitized amount of one or more selected fabric care agents to a wash and/or rinse bath solution during the laundering process under a variety of conditions. The invention also pertains to laundry kits that contain a variety of such articles and instructions concerning their use. Likewise, methods for preparing a customized laundry solution to obtain a specific fabric care benefit selected based on the user's personal preferences and/or the fabric care needs of the fabrics being laundered are also provided. Further, the present invention also concerns methods for assisting a consumer in identifying the unitized articles to be used in preparing a laundry solution that will impart desired fabric care benefits as well as merchandising displays for dispensing the articles, assembling customized laundry kits and instructing the consumer on the selection and use of laundry articles.

摘要： Liquid fabric softening compositions comprise a flame retardant. The liquid fabric softening compositions preferably further comprise a fabric softening active. In another embodiment of the invention, the present compositions comprise a flame retardant, wherein the flame retardant is a phosphorus-containing fabric softener. In another embodiment of the invention, the present compositions comprise no greater than about 21%, by weight of the composition, of a fabric softener active and at least about 0.5%, by weight of the composition, of a silicone material. The present compositions can be used to treat all types of fabrics to provide improved fabric softening and freshness, while minimizing the risk of flammability associated with cotton-containing fluffier fabrics, such as fleece and terry cloth, when treated with liquid fabric softening compositions.

摘要： Softening-through-the-wash compositions (“STW compositions”) are added to the wash cycle of a laundering process to soften fabrics. The STW compositions of the present invention comprise a particulate fabric softening active having an average particle size of less than about 800 microns in diameter. The STW compositions are substantially free of detersive surfactants and silicone materials. The STW compositions can further comprise a particulate co-softening compound having an average particle size of less than about 800 microns in diameter. The STW compositions comprise an effective amount of the particulate fabric softening active and optional particulate co-softening compound to provide a concentration of the fabric softening active and optional co-softening compound of at least about 50 parts per million when the STW composition is dispensed in a wash solution of the laundering process. Processes to make these STW compositions are also encompassed in the present invention.

Films made from the film-forming compositions may be used to encapsulate a variety of compositions for subsequent release into an aqueous medium. Encapsulated compositions can include various laundry detergents and additives, fabric care compositions such as fabric softening compositions and dishwashing detergents among others. When used to encapsulate compositions, the solvent system used in the film-forming composition will have at least one common solvent material as the solvent system used in the encapsulated composition to improve film dissolution and to prevent problems associated with solvent migration.
