Abstract: A method for controlling bearers in a core network includes receiving, from a user equipment (UE) device, a request for access to network resources, where the core network is coupled with a primary radio access technology (RAT) and a secondary RAT. The method includes determining an access point name (APN) RAT access restriction in response to the received request, where the APN RAT access restriction associates an APN with a corresponding RAT, where the corresponding RAT comprises at least one of the primary RAT or the secondary RAT. The method also includes assigning a radio bearer based on the determined APN RAT access restriction, wherein the assigned radio bearer exchanges data via the corresponding RAT; and identifying, to a master node, the assigned radio bearer for exchanging data between the UE device and a device specified by the APN via the corresponding RAT.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide a selective network slice admission control (NSAC) service on a per user equipment (UE) device level, and include manage select NSAC criteria related to a first limit to a number of user equipment (UE) devices and a second limit to a number of protocol data unit (PDU) sessions supportable on a network slice; receive an indication that a first UE device requests a first PDU session on the network slice; apply at least one of the select NSAC criteria to the first UE device and/or the first PDU session; determine, based on the application, that the first UE device is countable toward the first limit and/or the first PDU session is countable toward the second limit; and generate an NSAC update response message indicating that the first UE device and/or the first PDU session is countable.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein enable distribution of a Charging Function group identifier (“CHF-Group-ID”) and other CHF selection data to CHF consumers during Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment in a 5G network. A Unified Data Repository (UDR) is provisioned with CHF-Group-ID details for each subscriber of the network. In one aspect, during PDU session establishment, CHF consumers obtain CHF-Group-ID information as part of a subscriber profile that is provided to all CHF consumers. No additional step or hop is needed for the CHF consumers to obtain the CHF-Group-ID. Thus, regionally segmented CHFs can be implemented without replication of data between CHFs in different regional segments and without additional signaling between network functions.

Abstract: A network device may receive a request for determination of a first non-session management policy control decision for a UE, and may provide an account limits request to another network device based on the request. The network device may receive, from the other network device, account limits for the UE, and may determine a first non-session management policy control service for the UE based on the account limits. The network device may cause the UE to be provisioned with a service based on the first non-session management policy control service, and may receive a request for determination of a second non-session management policy control decision for the UE. The network device may determine a second non-session management policy control service for the UE based on the account limits, and may cause the UE to be provisioned with a service based on the second non-session management policy control service.

Abstract: A network device may receive a PDU session create message associated with establishing a PDU session with a user device and via a RAN, and may receive a first 5QI value and a second 5QI value associated with the PDU session. The network device may attempt to establish the PDU session with the first 5QI value and via the RAN, and may receive an indication that the first 5QI value is not supported for establishing the PDU session. The network device may cause the PDU session to be established with the second 5QI value, and via the RAN, based on the indication that the first 5QI value is not supported for establishing the PDU session.

Abstract: A system described herein may receive, from a policy element of a core of a wireless network, a set of triggers associated with a plurality of radio frequency (“RF”) bands implemented by a radio access network (“RAN”). The system may identify that a User Equipment (“UE”) is connected to the RAN via a first RF band, and may identify a subsequent connection of the UE to the RAN via a second RF band. The system may identify that a particular trigger, of the set of triggers, is satisfied based on the subsequent connection of the UE to the RAN via the second RF band, and may indicate, to the policy element, that the particular trigger has been satisfied. The policy element may output a second set of UE policies for communications between the UE and the core of the wireless network based on the satisfaction of the particular trigger.

Abstract: A network device may include a memory storing instructions and processor configured to execute the instructions to receive a request for a session management (SM) policy association in relation to establishment of a packet data unit (PDU) session for a particular user equipment (UE) device; sending, to a second network device, a request for an access and mobility (AM) policy decision pertaining to the UE device; receiving the AM policy decision from the second network device, and creating the SM policy association based on at least the received AM policy decision. The request for SM policy association includes an identifier associated with the second network device. The processor may be further configured to determine whether the network device is the same as another network device based on the identifier; and transmit a request to the second network device when it is determined that the first network device is not the same as the other network device.

Abstract: A network device may receive an indication of movement of a user device, associated with multiple packet data unit (PDU) sessions, from a first radio access network (RAN) to a second RAN, and may maintain, based on the indication, a particular PDU session, of the multiple PDU sessions, associated with a default flow. Abstract: A network device executes an account management function that pre-authorizes network service unit consumption by multiple subscribers that are members of a same, shared network service account. The account management function receives, from multiple charging systems distributed within the network, network unit consumption charges associated with each of the multiple subscribers, where the network device is centrally located within a network relative to multiple locations associated with the plurality of charging systems. Abstract: Systems and methods described herein use group segmentation of applications (referred to herein as “slicing classes”), based on common service requirements, to allow carriers to assign UE traffic to network slices. A UE stores slicing class definitions for use with UE Route Selection Policies (URSP). Each of the slicing class definitions include network quality of service (QoS) characteristics that are applicable to network traffic for multiple software applications. The UE maps the software applications to corresponding slicing class identifiers associated with the slicing class definitions. The UE also stores URSP rules for associating a slicing class identifier with a network slice identifier. A UE operating system sends, to a modem, one of the slicing class identifiers for an application that is requesting attachment to a wireless network. The modem sends a registration request with a selected network slice identifier based on the received slicing class identifier and the URSP rules.
