摘要: The presently described embodiments comprise a system that includes a color changing medium, an erasing device using heat or long wavelength infrared light as the erasing source, a writing device that can imagewise apply a UV light to write the image on the media, and a transport to transport the media along a paper path to be seen by the erasing device and the writing device. The system could also function in an alternative way. The image could be “erased” to the all dark state using light (e.g. ultraviolet light) and then heated or illuminated using, for example, infrared light in imagewise fashion to produce the image.

摘要: A method of jet-printing smooth micro-scale features is presented. The desired feature prior to being printed is masked by various decimation filters and the decimation is performed at various pitches. The subsequently printed image is then scanned and analyzed to determine the roughness of the lines. The optimum decimation pitch is determined by the feature that exhibits the least amount of droplet spreading and has the lowest edge roughness. The optimum decimation pitch may also be calculated from the material properties and the dynamics of fluids.

摘要: A drop transfer system has a plurality of acoustic transducers capable of generating acoustic waves. A plurality of spacing components are located between at least some of the acoustic transducers. A controller is placed in operative connection with the acoustic transducers and configured to activate the acoustic transducers in a phase relationship with each other. The acoustic transducers are positioned in relationship to each other and are operated in the phase relationship to have at least some of the acoustic waves converge at a selected point at a selected time.

摘要: A sensor device adapted to detect at least one of a particle and a bubble in a fluid, includes a fluid nozzle defining a center of fluid flow; and a plurality of sensor elements for converting an impact of one of a particle and a bubble into an electrical signal, wherein a first sensor element is arranged closer to the center of fluid flow than a second sensor element. The sensor device includes a number of diaphragm sensor elements each having a sufficiently small mass for responding to a collision with the particle, and an apparatus for converting a vibration of the diaphragm portion into an electrical signal so as to detect the vibration. The multiple elements are arranged in the fluid flow stream such that different size particles will preferentially strike different elements.

摘要: A display element includes: an actuator including a piezoelectric film having a pair of surfaces and a pair of electrodes coated onto at least a portion of each of a pair of respective surfaces of the piezoelectric film; a movable flexing portion, in contact with one of the pair of electrodes, to support the actuator; a fixed portion for holding the flexing portion so that the flexing portion can move; means, connected to the actuator, for transmitting a displacement of the actuator; and a plate for transmitting light, disposed closely to the displacement-transmitting means. In this display element, a voltage is applied into the actuator through the pair of electrodes so as to control a rest position and a displacement of the actuator as well as a contact and a separation between the displacement-transmitting means and the plate so that a light emission at a predetermined position in the plate is controlled. Alternatively, a display element may include a laminated piezoelectric body having a plurality of piezoelectric layers and a plurality of electrode layers, wherein the piezoelectric layers and the electric layers are laminated. A display apparatus includes a plurality of display elements. The display element and the display apparatus have quick response, consume little electric power, have a small size, and have high brightness of a screen. Further, a colored screen does not need to increase the number of picture elements in comparison with a monochrome screen.

摘要: Approaches to remove bubbles from ink in an ink jet printer are described. Bubble removal may be implemented using one or more separator elements configured to separate bubbles of a vapor from ink. Each separator element includes wicking features having dimensions sufficient to allow capillary movement of the ink in the wicking features and to substantially exclude the bubbles from the wicking features. One or more inlets allow passage of the ink that includes the bubbles into the separator element. At least one vapor outlet allows vapor that has been separated from the ink to exit from the separator element. The ink exits from the separator element thought one or more ink outlets.
