    摘要: An image compression method and apparatus, in which coding efficiency is improved by coding multiple pictures through cross-reference between the pictures, and an image decompression method and apparatus. The image compression method includes dividing each of the pictures into predetermined slices, determining a prediction mode having higher efficiency and a coding order for each of corresponding slices of the pictures by performing prediction on the corresponding slices, and coding each of the slices in the determined prediction mode according to the determined order of coding. The pictures are coded through cross-reference between them.

    摘要: A method of controlling a terminal of the MPEG-4 system to enable to faster reproduce the selected contents through a caching mechanism includes, if the contents to be reproduced is selected, the terminal of the MPEG-4 system receives an initial object descriptor of the selected contents from a server, and then determines an object of stream and the priority based on the initial object descriptor, object descriptor, and a scene description. A random object is stored in the cache at the point of reproducing the random object constituting the contents. If a final update time of the object stored in the cache is identical with that of the object existing in the server, the object requested to be reproduced from the cache is reproduced. Accordingly, the method makes it possible to more promptly reproduce the contents requested by a user and to provide more stable contents to the user.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for video encoding/decoding provides a macroblock used as a unit of video division and encoding formed in various sizes, positions, and shapes to improve compression efficiency according to video characteristics. The video encoding method, divides a video into macroblocks while moving macroblocks in each row and/or each column by a predetermined-size pixel and each of the macroblocks is encoded. A video may also be divided into macroblocks at a position spaced apart from a corner of the video by a predetermined offset and each of the macroblocks is encoded. Encoding may also be performed on each sub-block and sub-blocks having the same prediction mode may be grouped into a macroblock having another form.

    摘要: An MPEG data receiving apparatus adapted to interact with a MPEG data providing apparatus. A storage unit stores scene description information (SDI) from a received MPEG stream and a command recognition unit outputs node identification information based on user-selected objects and scene correction commands input by the user. A correcting unit searches for SDI stored in the storage unit corresponding to the scene correction commands and selectively updates the SDI on the object or requests the MPEG stream providing apparatus to update the SDI corresponding to the scene correction commands according to a result of determining whether the SDI corresponding to the scene correction commands exists in the storage unit. Accordingly, interaction between the MPEG data receiving apparatus and the MPEG data providing apparatus is enabled. Effective results are obtainable under a narrow bandwidth environment by reducing an amount of SDI transmitted from the providing apparatus.
