摘要: Pictorial characters are used to replace one or more words or even one or more full sentences of a message for communication to one or more people. In the context of an electronic communication device, a person (“sending party”) can use pictorial characters to “encode” words or sentences of a message to be sent to another person (“receiving party”). The receiving party, upon receiving the message, decodes the coded message and, if appropriate or desired, replies to the message. The communication devices used by the sending and receiving parties can be provided with various pictorial character-related features. For example, the communication devices may be provided with processing circuitry that conditions the use of a particular pictorial character for sending messages upon prior entry of a valid authorization (unlocking) code for that character. Alternatively or additionally, the processing circuitry of the communication devices may be responsive to received messages for proposing to the receiving party suggested meanings for one or more of the characters.

摘要: An interactive dynamic musical composition real time music presentation video game system uses individually composed musical compositions stored as building blocks. The building blocks are structured as nodes of a sequential state machine. Transitions between states are defined based on exit point of current state and entrance point into the new state. Game-related parameters can trigger transition from one compositional building block to another. For example, an interactivity variable can keep track of the current state of the video game or some aspect of it. In one example, an adrenaline counter gauging excitement based on the number of game objectives that have been accomplished can be used to control transitions between more relaxed musical states to more exciting and energetic musical states. Transitions can be handled by cross-fading between one music compositional component to another, or by providing transitional compositions. The system can be used to dynamically generate a musical composition in real time. Advantages include allowing a musical composer to compose a number of discrete musical compositions corresponding to different video game or other multimedia presentation states, and providing smooth transition between the different compositions responsive to interactive user input and/or other parameters.

摘要: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for simulating human behavior. Source code, written in a language for predicting human behavior, is located on a storage system in a network data processing system. An interpreter executing on hardware has a language interpreter and a communications module. The language interpreter executes a simulation with the source code using artificial intelligence to generate a new definition and interpreted source code. A graphical user interface processor receives the interpreted source code from the language interpreter and generates device dependent output. Devices display the device dependent output, receive user input, and send received user input to the graphical user interface processor. The communications module receives the received user input from the graphical user interface processor and the new definition from the language interpreter and modifies the source code to form modified source code that is executed by the language interpreter.

摘要: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for source code located on a storage system in a network data processing system. The source code is written in a language for predicting human behavior. An interpreter, executing in the network data processing system, executes a simulation using the source code. A synthetic human is defined in the source code and generates user input during the simulation. The user input modifies the source code. A graphical user interface processor receives interpreted source code from the interpreter and generates device dependent output using the interpreted source code. The interpreter receives live user input through a device to replace the user input generated by the synthetic human. The interpreter ceases using input generated by the synthetic human in response to receiving the live user input, and the interpreter includes live user input with the interpreted source code.
