    摘要: A sensor which can be implanted in a body part to collect data relating to the body part, the sensor includes a jacket which has a side wall which can be deformed inwardly, and first and second ends. A sensor part is contained within the jacket, and fastened to the jacket at or towards the first end of the jacket. The sensor part is at least partially isolated from compressive forces applied to the sensor which cause the side wall of the jacket to deform inwardly.

    摘要: Methods, systems and data processing apparatus and methods are described for use in planning and carrying out a surgical procedure on a joint of a subject. The joint includes a first component and a second component, the first and second components being relatively movable. Joint data describing the configuration of the joint is captured while the joint is in a functional state wherein the joint is undergoing its usual load bearing functional behaviour. The joint data is analyzed to determine joint component orientation data specifying the relative orientation of the first and second components. The orientation of prosthetic implants to be used in the surgical procedure to recreate the joint is planned using the joint component orientation data. The planned orientation of the prosthetic implants improves the recreation of the functional state of the joint.

    摘要: Methods, systems and apparatus for monitoring and assessing the orthopaedic performance of a patient are described. The method can comprise implanting at least a first and second RF wirelessly detectable markers in first and second bones associated with a site. A procedure can be carried out on the site and the positions of the first and second markers can be detected after the procedure has been completed. The detected positions can be used to assess the orthopaedic performance of the patient. An orthopaedic monitoring system comprises a monitoring station including a tracking system for RF wirelessly detecting the positions of markers within a working volume of the monitoring station. A computer control system is configured to determine a marker position for each of a plurality of markers implanted in a patient located in the working volume. The computer control system also generates an indication of the orthopaedic performance of the patient from the marker positions. The computer implemented method comprises identifying each of the plurality of markers, determining the positions of each of the markers and using the positions of the markers to generate a representation of the orthopaedic performance of the patient.

    摘要: A system and method to model a tracking curve of an in-vivo device capturing in-vivo data of the colon is provided. Data analysis is performed on a raw tracking curve to identify one or more milestone data points that correspond to defined locations in the colon. A modeled path may be defined between and along the selected milestone data points. Raw tracking curve data may be translated to modeled data along the modeled path. The modeled tracking curve may be displayed alongside a streaming display of captured in-vivo image frames of the colon.

    摘要: A medical tool for operating in a working volume of a magnetic position tracking system includes a first plurality of layers including an electrically conductive material and a second plurality of layers including an electrically insulating material and interleaved with the first plurality. The layers are arranged to reduce eddy current distortion in a magnetic field generated by the magnetic position tracking system. Another medical tool includes a core including a ferromagnetic material and an outer coating layer on the core. The coating layer includes a conductive material configured to produce eddy current distortion so as to cancel at least part of a distortion caused by the core in a magnetic field of the magnetic position tracking system. Yet another medical tool includes an electrically conducting loop-shaped element having an electrical discontinuity introduced therein, so as to reduce eddy current distortion caused by the loop-shaped element.
