    摘要: A method for synchronizing the time and frequency of an incoming packet of transmitted information with a receiver in a wireless communication system includes a synchronization method which may reduce the adverse effects of delay spread introduced by a bad channel. The method includes assigning a plurality of samples in a received synchronization segment of an incoming packet to corresponding bins, determining a number of phase test failures in each bin, and selecting the bin having the fewest number of phase test failures and the fewest number of small samples for synchronizing the time of the incoming packet with the receiver. Additionally, the method calculates the phase drift for the selected bin so that the frequency of the incoming packet is synchronized with that of the receiver.

The receiver may determine a noise power value of the signal received from the plurality of antennas using unoccupied orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) tones of a first preamble included in the super-frame of the signal, wherein the first preamble includes carrier information. The receiver may also use the fractional frequency reuse (FFR) and MIMO features to determine signal quality values using the signal power value, the noise power value, and the interference power value.

For each group, resource blocks of each channel can be further divided into subspaces. A base station may communicate a number of channels in a group, a number of subspaces allocated to a group of channels, and a bit shift value to all mobile stations via non-specific user channels to a mobile station. The mobile station uses a blind detection scheme and the number of channels allocated per group, a number of sub-spaces per group of channels, and a bit shift value to locate an information element assigned to the mobile station. A number of blind detection trials may be capped to a sum of a number of channels for all allocated groups.

    摘要: In the method, a detector retrieves certain signal samples from a data frame that are accumulated in a buffer of a base station receiver. The detector generates a first metric representing a first signal sample and a second metric representing a second signal sample, and calculates a sum of the first and second metrics and a difference between the first and second metrics. A calculator uses the sum to calculate at least one threshold value, and a comparator compares the difference to the calculated threshold value to determine an on-time error for the frame. Based on the determined on-time error, an adjuster adjusts timing for the on-time error, and feeds back an on-time error correction to the buffer for subsequently received data frames.

    摘要: The present invention provides a receiver for correcting frequency errors in a receiver of a coherently demodulated communication system, whereby two simultaneous counts are performed for a plurality of symbol comprising an incoming packet of information. In particular, a first count is performed where a counter increases or decreases based on the comparison of symbol phases from outputs of two components of the receiver. Simultaneously, a second counter increments sequentially for each symbol processed. A frequency increment or correction is applied when the first counter reaches a threshold, resetting the first and second counters for subsequent symbols. The receiver may reduce frequency offset estimation errors which degrade channel performance, as compared to algorithms currently utilized to correct frequency errors in wireless communications networks and/or systems. Moreover, a significant improvement in packet error rate may be attainable in accordance with the aforementioned receiver.
