The fine particle supplier supplies fine particles onto the surface of the image carrier while an image forming operation is not performed.     摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a photoconductive element including a conductive support rotatably supported and a charge injection layer and a surface protection layer sequentially laminated on the conductive support. A charger includes a conductive body for injecting, when a preselected voltage is applied thereto, a charge in the charge injection layer in contact with the surface protection layer. A writing unit exposes the charged surface of the photoconductive element imagewise to thereby locally vary the potential deposited on the photoconductive element and electrostatically form a latent image. A developing unit develops the latent image to thereby produce a corresponding toner image. The toner image is transferred from the photoconductive element to a recording medium. Assuming that the charge injection layer has a thickness of D micrometers, and that the potential deposited on the surface of the photoconductive element by the conductive member is V volts in absolute value, then a ratio V/D is confined in a preselected range that does not contaminate the background of the photoconductive element.

    摘要: To avoid burning out a capacitor in a synchronous rectification type DC-to-DC converter due to overvoltages, the synchronous rectification type DC-to-DC converter includes a storage unit storing therein power derived from a power supply, switching elements connecting and disconnecting respective signal paths from power and ground, and a control unit controlling the connecting/disconnecting operations of the switching elements to maintain a voltage output from the storage unit at a predetermined value. The DC/DC converter also includes an overvoltage detecting unit monitoring a voltage derived from the power supply to thereby output an alarm signal when the voltage derived from the power supply exceeds a preselected voltage value, a shortcircuiting unit influencing the connecting conditions of the switching elements when the alarm signal from the overvoltage detecting unit is input therein, whereby the voltage derived from the power supply is shortcircuited, and an interrupting unit interrupting one of the signal paths by the power shortcircuited by the shortcircuiting unit.
