摘要： A method and system for controlling computer security. The system is a centralized, computer-network security management tool capable of handling many different kinds of equipment in a standardized format despite differences in the computer security features among the diverse range of computer equipment in the computer network. The invention uses a layered software architecture, including a technology specific layer and a technology independent layer. The technology specific layer serves to extract and maintain security data on target platforms and for converting data to and from a common data model used by the technology independent layer. The technology independent layer handles the main functionality of the system such as locating and removing certain present and former employees from computer access lists, auditing system user data, monitoring security events (e.g. failed login attempts), automatically initiating corrective action, interfacing with the system users, reporting, querying and storing of collected data.

摘要： A method and apparatus for storing and retrieving images of documents, e.g. checks. The method comprises placing a plurality of documents in a document imaging machine and forming an electronic image of each document, storing each electronic image in an electronic storage device, providing at least one user interface device in communication on a communication link with the electronic storage device, placing a request for at least one document image on the user interface device, transmitting the request by the communication link to the electronic storage device, searching the electronic storage device for the requested electronic image of the document, retrieving the at least one electronic image or providing an indication that the image was not found, storing the electronic image, if found, in an electronic file, for transmission to the user interface device at user option, providing the electronic image to the user interface device at command of a user at the user interface device for storage at the user interface device and displaying the requested electronic image on a display of the user interface device. Preferably, the electronic, images are stored with embedded identifying information in a TIFF.RTM. (trademark of Aldus Corp.) file format and the check images can be displayed on a display device which permits the user to view both sides of the checks simultaneously and perform functions such as zooming and rotation of the images.

摘要： As banking transactions are processed by a bank teller, all of the relevant information with respect to the transaction (e.g., dollar amount) is captured in an electronic file. Each of the electronic files from the various branches of the bank are forwarded to a central back office processing center where the electronic files are combined into a single Transaction Repository. At the end of the branch day, all of the paper associated with the transactions is forwarded from the branches to the back office processing center. The paper transactions are imaged in the conventional manner and the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) data is read from the paper. The present invention then automatically correlates the images and MICR data captured from the paper with the complete transaction record contained in the Transaction Repository. Most of the conventional back office processing can now be performed without the need to perform character recognition and without the need for excess human intervention.

A set of validation rules is applied to the information for each asset in the pool of assets and those assets which do not meet the validation rules are rejected.
