Abstract:
A filter assembly that includes a water separator as part of the filter assembly. The water separator is arranged in the filter assembly and includes a filter element that is provided with a hydrophobic medium through which fuel/lubricant can pass through. The filter assembly also includes a water separator positioned downstream from the filter element. During the operation of the filter assembly, the water separator causes the water in the fuel to be separated and accumulate on the hydrophobic surface of the water separator and, due to the gravity, allows the water to flow downwards along the surface of the water separator into a water collection/sedimentation chamber where it can be evacuated from the filter through one or more passageways.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for separating blood, more particularly an apparatus (1) for absorbing blood (19) and separating blood components, e.g. blood plasma, as a sample liquid (2). Said apparatus (1) comprises a feeding device (13) for absorbing the blood (2), a device (15) for separating blood components as a sample liquid (2), a duct which preferably absorbs the sample liquid (2) exclusively by means of capillary forces, and a device for filling the duct (3) with sample liquid (2) in an inlet or feeding zone (18) of the duct (3). The separating device (15), in particular a membrane, is curved, especially convexly shaped, and the apex of said curved, especially convex shape projects into the filling device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting a screen. The apparatus may comprise a cylindrical screen for submerging in a fluid. The screen may have an inlet pipe for connecting to a piping system, filter members, a first end, a second end, and a support structure. The support structure may include one or more helical and/or straight bar members which traverse the screen.
Abstract:
Fluted filter media includes filter material having a plurality of flutes formed therein having alternating ends of adjacent flutes closed to force fluid through filter material. A first embodiment of the filter media includes tapered flutes which have the open ends of the flutes larger in cross-section than the closed flutes, wherein the upstream open flutes converge toward the downstream end and the upstream closed end flutes diverge toward the downstream end. A second embodiment includes filter media which is asymmetric formed with dissimilar upstream and downstream flute cross-sections with larger flute openings to the upstream side of the filter. A third embodiment includes filter media with an upstream edge crushed to improve flow at the upstream edge. A fourth embodiment includes filter media with the upstream sealing material recessed from the upstream edge for reducing effects from blockages at the upstream edge of the filter.
Abstract:
A filter apparatus and method for filtering a liquid. The filter apparatus comprises a housing that has at least one inlet for admission of the liquid to be filtered and at least one outlet for discharge of the filtered liquid. The apparatus further comprises at least two substantially cylindrical filter elements that can be fitted into the housing and which have a plurality of openings through which the liquid can flow to filter particles out of the liquid, and at least one filter cleaning element that can be introduced into a respective filter element in a region of an inner surface of the filter element to increase a flow speed of the liquid to be filtered so that substances in the filter element are flushed away. The filter elements are further connected in a parallel arrangement in the filter apparatus.

Abstract:
Described herein are embodiments of a fluid filter for combustion engine systems and associated methods. According to one exemplary embodiment, a fluid filter apparatus for reducing re-entrainment of contaminant particles into post-filtration fluid flow due at least in part to a fluid flow surge includes at least one fluid filter and a fluid flow diverting element that is coupled to the fluid filter. The fluid filter includes at least one fluid filtering medium that is communicable in fluid flow receiving communication with a fluid flowing along a first fluid flow path during a fluid flow non-surge event. During a fluid flow surge event, the fluid flow diverting element is capable of diverting at least some of the fluid from the first fluid flow path to a second fluid flow path.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for guiding a dispersion of two liquids formed in the mixing stage of liquid-liquid extraction along the longitudinal axis of the separation section in the feed end of an extraction separation section. In particular the method and equipment relate to the extraction process used in the recovery of metals. In accordance with the method the dispersion to be fed into the separation section is guided so that it spreads evenly over the cross-section of the separation section using a directional member placed so as to obtain a vertical flow. The equipment in accordance with the invention consists of a directional member, which is in turn made up of at least two separate parts.
