Abstract:
An apparatus for transfer of a liquid using a diaphragm that separates a working fluid volume from a working air volume and can controllably induce a change pressure to draw or expel a target fluid into a tube. The apparatus is particularly suitable for automated processing of nucleic acids and other samples includes a disposable container comprising a tray and a flexible barrier. The barrier is configured to seal with a top edge of the tray, providing a closed, aseptic work area within the sealed tray. A pipette head and/or other sample manipulation device can be attached to the inside of the barrier under the diaphraghm, and the barrier can include an interface for a robotic arm or other device. When the barrier is sealed over the tray, the barrier separates the contents of the tray from the robot or other manipulation device.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a process for forming a protective barrier seal along a “ring of concern” of a transfer container used with double door systems is provided. A protective substrate is supplied between a “ring of concern” and a safety cover in which an adhesive layer of the substrate engages the “ring of concern”. A compressive foam strip along an opposite side of the substrate engages a safety cover such that a compressive force is maintained between the “ring of concern” and the adhesive layer of the substrate.
Abstract:
A port and closure device for a vessel that is configured for use with a glove bag. The port comprising includes a first annular flange with an opening, a second annular flange disposed a predetermined distance from the first flange and also having an opening, and a seal ring disposed adjacent the first annular flange and having an additional opening. At least a portion of the openings are aligned so that a path is provided through the flanges and the seal ring. A slideable door is included in the port between the seal ring and the second annular flange. The slideable door has a first position that obstructs the path and a second position that is outside of the path. Springs are disposed between the first flange and the seal ring that urge the seal ring toward the slideable door. To reduce contamination sites, the springs may be sealed within an annular interface between the first annular flange and the seal ring. Alternatively, or in addition, a funnel pipe may be used with the port disposed in the openings of the first and second flange and the seal ring. The port may also include an adapter configured to hold a glove bag thereon.
Abstract:
A barrier isolator port assembly for connecting to a conventional docking port of an isolated enclosure is provided. The port assembly includes an annular body, a door assembly and a lock. The annular body is configured to engage a docking port of the isolated enclosure. The port assembly also includes a door assembly mountable within the annular body and a lock operatively connected to the annular body. The lock includes a lever and a pin. The lever is pivotably connected to the annular body about a pivoting member and configured to pivot about the pivoting member to removably insert the pin into the recess of the door assembly.
Abstract:
The invention concerns an isolation chamber for isolating substances from the ambient. The isolation chamber comprises a first container surrounding and defining an isolation space for holding the substances and a second container surrounding the first container. A barrier space is positioned between the first and the second containers. Preferably, the pressure of the isolation space is lower than the pressure of the barrier space.

Abstract:
A method to mount handling equipment on an interface of a confinement chamber that is to contain a sterile environment. In the method a unit including the handling equipment is prepared and sterilized, and the chamber and a hidden part of the interface are sterilized after coupling impervious tooling to a chamber flange and partially opening the chamber door. The unit is then coupled to the interface. Finally, the double door formed by the equipment door and the chamber door connected to one another is opened, using a handle provided for this purpose on the equipment door.
Abstract:
This enclosure comprises a body which itself comprises: a structure which internally delimits a processing space which opens at the outer side of the structure by way of an opening, at least one framework element which is fixed in a removable manner to the structure in order to delimit, in the opening (13), at least two zones for access to separate regions of the processing space. At least two gates are mounted so as to be movable on the structure in order selectively to close and open the access zones. Application, for example, to CO2 incubators.
Abstract:
A sealed connection device in which, two chambers (“A” and “B”), each has an access opening equipped with a door (2, 3) cooperating with a flange (4, 5) with the interposition of sealing means (12, 14), one (2) of the two doors being articulated with its flange (4). The detection device comprises two grooves (30, 35), formed in the external face of the flange (4) of chamber (A), a seal (36) placed in the groove (35), a network of ducts (31, 32, 33) formed in flange (4) and connecting the inner groove (30) to a coupling (34), a vacuum pump (38) the intake (37) of which is connected to the said coupling, and a sensor (44) measuring the strength of the partial vacuum in the pneumatic circuit leading to the groove (30) and reacting on alarm means (47, 48) if ever the partial vacuum does not reach an appropriate value.
Abstract:
Device (10) for achieving communication, via a coupling means, between a first chamber (1) and a second chamber (2). The coupling means comprises, on the same side as the first chamber (1), a first shut-off member (41), and, on the same side as the second chamber (2), a second shut-off member (4) comprising a second flange (52) forming a seat for a second removable shutter element (72). The coupling means further comprises means of sealed connection between two flanges (51) and (52). The second chamber (2) being defined by the inside of a flexible and sealed bag (15), the border of the mouth of which is connected in a sealed way to the second flange (52). When the coupling, means is in an uncoupled position, the flexible bag (15) comprises a band (15d) extending the bag (15) continuously beyond the second flange (52), defining a closed (15f) and sealed, but openable envelope (12) for protecting the second shut-off member (42).
