    摘要: A cutting insert for chip-breaking metal machining includes an upper chip surface, a lower bottom surface, which is substantially plane parallel with the chip surface, one or several side surfaces that extend between said chip and bottom surfaces, and a through hole (12) for the accomodation of a locking screw (11). The hole (12) includes a rotation-asymmetrical portion (16) including a plurality of radially bulging portions (17) extending in the direction of the hole, the transitions (18) extending substantially in the direction of the hole between adjacent bulging portions being intended to pairwise abutting against the locking screw (11) and guiding the insert towards the right positioning in an insert seat, before the insert is clamped. In this way, it becomes considerably easier to position the cutting insert, particularly when it has a larger number of cutting edges, e.g. six or eight.

    摘要: A polygon shaped cutting tip for a metal workpiece boring tool, the cutting tip having linear side edges lying in a common plane and adjacent side edges which pass tangentially into rounded corner regions. Parts of the corner regions and of the side edges serve as the primary and secondary cutting edges of the tip. A chip breaker edge is arranged at a distance in from the side edges. A chip breaker surface extends from the side edge to the chip breaker edge. The chip breaker edge includes linear sections corresponding to the linear side edges of the tip and has curved sections which correspond to the curved regions of the side edges. The arc of curvature of both the curved regions and the curved sections is the same although the arcuate length of the curved sections is greater. The chip breaker surface extends from the side edges of the corner regions inward toward and downward into the tip at an acute angle where it intersects the chip breaker edges.

    摘要: A throw away tip used for back-turning in which the throw away tip cuts deeply into work material in one direction in depth setting and machines in a different direction from the that of the depth setting has at least an end cutting flank for cutting into work material as depth setting. One or more than one middle cutting flanks are connected with the end cutting flank on the feed-direction side of the side cutting flank. The rake surface is provided with first and second chip breakers grooved along the end cutting flank and the middle cutting flank, respectively. A rake face is connected with the above flanks. The end cutting flank has an acute end cutting edge angle. The middle cutting flank has a cutting edge angle wider than the end cutting edge angle and narrower than a right angle. The side cutting flank has a setting angle which is wider than the entering angle.
