    摘要： Condensates of an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and an unsaturated monocaboxylic fatty acid diester of a dihydric phenol having an acid value of 80-275 are used in the form of solution in aqueous ammonia or an aqueous amine as a protective coating composition. The unsaturated monocarboxylic fatty acid contains 10-24 carbon atoms per molecule and the dihydric phenol may be a hydroxy-terminated diester of a diphenol and a saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. The films prepared from the solutions of the condensates are cured by heating. Driers, e.g. cobalt and manganese naphthenates may be added to the solutions.ALSO:The invention comprises condensates of an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and an unsaturated monocarboxylic fatty acid diester of a dihydric phenol, the condensate being soluble in aqueous ammonia or amine solution, the unsaturated fatty acid of the diester containing 10-24 carbon atoms and the molar ratio of dicarboxylic acid to diester being sufficient to impart an acid value of 80-275 to the condensate. Suitable unsaturated dicarboxylic acids are, for example, maleic acid, fumaric acid and itaconic acid and suitable unsaturated monocarboxylic acids include those derived from drying or semi-drying oils, e.g. linseed oil fatty acid and dehydrated castor oil fatty oil as well as oils derived from other sources, e.g. oleic, palmitoleic, erucic, linoleic, linolenic, licanic, myristoleic, eleostearic, arachidonic and clupanodonic acids. The phenol may be, for example, bisphenol or resorcinol or may be a hydroxy-terminated diester of a diphenol and a saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, e.g. succinic acid, glutaric acid, pimelic acid, adipic acid, subaric acid, azelaic acid and sebacic acid. The condensates are prepared by heating the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride with the diester in such a ratio as to give a product of acid value 80-275.

    摘要： A coating composition for fabrics is made by mixing 10 to 50 parts of an emulsion copolymer containing 50 to 90 per cent vinyl chloride and 50 to 10 per cent vinylidene chloride and having a viscosity of 0.9 to 1.4 centipoises at 120 DEG C. in a 2 per cent solution in o-dichlorbenzene, with 50 to 90 parts of a drying oil and 5 to 200 per cent (of the oil plus copolymer) of a volatile organic liquid which swells the copolymer but does not dissolve it or form lyophilic gels therewith, and grinding to produce homogeneity. The volatile liquid may comprise 30 to 70 per cent of aromatic hydrocarbons such as xylene or toluene and 70 to 30 per cent of aliphatic hydrocarbons, such as naphtha, mineral spirits, benzine or "troluoil". Suitable drying oils are raw, boiled, blown or heat-bodied linseed or soyabean oil, liquefied or heat-bodied oiticica oil, raw or heat-bodied tung oil, drying oil varnishes, and oil-modified alkyd resins. Fillers and pigments, e.g. titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, chrome green and prussian blue, dyes, stabilizers, and driers, e.g. cobalt and lead naphthenates may be included.
