摘要： A fabric tenter device having a pivotally mounted roof which may carry a nozzle box is provided with a counterbalance assembly enabling the roof and box to be pivotally shifted from the tenter covering to an open position by manual lifting forces. The counterbalance assembly is comprised of a lever divided into two arms, the lever being pivotally mounted on a fulcrum fixed to the tenter housing. The lever includes a weight arm underlying the roof and a power arm to the opposite side of the fulcrum. A chain having one end fixed to the power arm has its other end attached to a spring mechanism carried by the weight arm, the chain being arranged over a guide roller or rollers in such manner that the spring is tensioned to its maximum extent when the roof is in the tenter covering position.

摘要： A device for removing curl, folds and the like from a moving web in which opposing banks of elongate fins cooperate to define a web passageway therebetween. The banks of fins are preferably associated with top and bottom plates, respectively, that may be biasable apart by seams, etc., passing therebetween, and may include quick release coupling to facilitate assembly and disassembly of the device without affecting the process with which the device is employed. Relative positions of the top and bottom banks of fins may be adjustably controlled. Preferred different fin spacing permits the handling of webs of varying weights and construction. Fin banks are of unitary construction from material exhibiting a low coefficient of friction as exemplified by ultra high molecular weight polyethylene.

摘要： A sheet workpiece having an edge bent over on one face of the workpiece towards the center of the workpiece is continuously displaced in a transport direction over a flat support surface that lies against the other face of the workpiece at the bent-over edge. Compressed air is blown from a guide in a flow direction extending transverse to the transport direction, outwardly from the workpiece center, and generally parallel to the surface so as to blow this bent-over edge flat. A plurality of nozzles inclined slightly downwardly toward the surface and backwardly in the transport direction may be employed, as a single elongated nozzle producing a band-shaped current of air may be used, or a plurality of nozzles spread out in a two-dimensional array. Such a flow of air may also be directed from both faces at the workpiece edge in order to flatten out this edge no matter which way it is bent over. When a plurality of nozzles are employed each nozzle may be formed as a plug secured in a support plate having an inclined outlet passage and rotatable in order to vary the flow direction.

摘要： A web edge sensing and guiding system in which a travelling web exits from a tiltable web guide apparatus in a plane transverse to the plane of motion of the web guide apparatus. The lateral position of the web edge is sensed at the exit side of the web guide apparatus and means are provided for moving the web edge sensor along a path to substantially follow movement of the exiting web in a direction perpendicular to its plane while maintaining the web edge sensor at a substantially uniform spacing laterally of the longitudinal path of travel of the web to thereby accommodate fluctuation of the exiting web in a direction perpendicular to its plane caused by tilting of the web guide apparatus in its plane of motion.
