摘要:
A cellulose fiber is immersed in a cellulose fiber dissolving agent such as tertiary amine-N-oxide, lithium chloride/N,N-dimethylacetoamide or N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide under conditions where the dissolving agent does not dissolve the cellulose fiber. Therefore, the water absorbing property and moisture absorbing and discharging property of the cellulose fiber can be improved without deteriorating the strength and feeling of the cellulose fiber.

A heat and oxidation stabilized polymeric article, preferably fiber or film, is prepared by applying to the article a composition which comprises effective amounts of a nitrogen-containing antioxidant and a compatible carrier. When the composition is applied as a process finish, the carrier is a lubricant which is the reaction product of an alkylene oxide with a compound selected from the group consisting of a fatty acid having about 5 to 36 carbon atoms and an alcohol having about 5 to 36 carbon atoms, with the number of moles of alkylene oxide per mole of acid or alcohol ranging from 2 to 20. The stabilized article has utility in high performance applications.

The softness of laundered fabrics, such as cotton fabrics, is improved by drying them in the presence of a laundry dryer sheet containing as the fabric softener a mixture or 50-80% by weight of N-dihydrogenatedtallow-N,N-dimethylammonium chloride and 50-20% by weight of N-octadecyl-N,N-dimethylamine oxide.
摘要:
Highly useful amidoamine oxides are provided which are derived from polymeric fatty acids, particularly, dimer and trimer acids obtained by the polymerization of C.sub.18 unsaturated monocarboxylic acids. Aqueous solutions and dispersions of the amidoamine oxides of this invention can be used in a variety of formulations to impart desirable properties. They are particularly advantageous for use in cleaning formulations and shampoo products and when included in anionic and cationic laundry detergents have been found to soften the laundered articles.

Carboxylated, mercerized cellulose fiber having at least 12 meq/100 g of carboxyl substitution at the C-6 position of the anhydroglucose units, which includes at least 20% cellulose II, may be produced by catalytically carboxylating mercerized cellulose fiber in at least two catalytic carboxylation stages in a continuous series in which the pH is adjusted, and a primary oxoammonium salt catalyst (or precursor thereof) and secondary oxidant is added, at the beginning of each stage. Optionally, the carboxylated, mercerized cellulose may be made substantially free of aldehyde groups by means of a stabilizing step following the final carboxylation stage, in which aldehyde groups present in the fibers are converted to carboxyl groups.
