    摘要： A ball valve that is suitable for large pipe sizes (e.g., 20-40 inches or larger). The body is fabricated by welding from mill steel shapes (e.g., plate steel). The main pressure-retaining part of the body is a generally cylindrical shell made from a plurality of segments welded together. At least one and preferably two of the segments are flat plates which are welded to one or two cylindrical segments. The flat plate or plates serve to mount bearing means for journalling the ball. One of the end portions of the body for making connection with associated piping includes an annulus secured to one end of the shell, together with a conical shaped section and a pipe section connected between the annulus and the small end of the conical section. The annulus serves to mount a sealing assembly for the valve.

    摘要： A ball valve is produced, which has a valve housing 10 and a ball 20. A pair of mirror-symmetrical housing halves 12, 14 are jointed together along a single weld line. The housing halves are jointed together by welding in a manner to enclose the ball previously provided with a through bore and a pair of recessed portions. The through bore 22 of the ball is arranged to be in conformity with the weld line. Holes 42, 50 for respectively mounting a pair of stem assemblies are formed by machining respectively in those portions of the valve housing opposed respectively to open opposite ends of the through bore. The centers of the holes are in alignment with the operational centerline of the ball valve. The ball is turned by an angle of 90 degrees, thereby bringing the through bore of the ball into alignment with openings 12A, 14A of the valve housing, and the recessed portions 26, 28 of the ball are brought into alignment with the holes, respectively. Next, the pair of stem assemblies 60, 68 are attached to the both holes, respectively, and stems are fitted in the both recessed portions, respectively, and the pair of stems are welded circumferentially to peripheral edge portions of the holes, respectively.

    摘要： A cock valve includes a hollow body having first and second opposite end portions with the first end portion having a circular upper aperture formed therein. A valve is rotatably positioned within the body for rotation about an axis extending between said first and second end portions of the housing. The valve has first and second pivot members therein respectively located adjacent the first and second end portions of the housing and is dimensioned for removal through the aperture in the first end portion of the housing. A removable cap is mounted on the housing for closing the aperture and receiving the first pivot member of the valve. The hollow body has a generally annular groove formed therein about the opening with the groove opening inwardly towards the opening and the axis of rotation of the valve. An open resilient ring having internal and external surfaces is mounted in the groove with its external surface positioned therein, to serve to keep the cap in place. The internal surface of the ring is precision machined and defines a frusto-conical bearing surface diverging outwardly from the axis of rotation of the valve and away from the second end portion of the housing; and the cap has a precision machined peripheral bearing surface of truncated conical shape which is generally concentric with the axis of rotation of the valve and converges towards the axis away from the second end portion of the housing opposite the frustro-conical bearing surface of the ring. A cap centering ring is also provided having generally conical internal and external surfaces which converge towards each other and towards the second end portion of the housing. The cap centering ring is positioned with its external surface bearing upon the internal surface of the resilient ring and its internal surface bearing against the truncated conical surface of the cap.
