Abstract:
A data-encoding system includes a source of unencoded data, and a first encoder interoperably coupled to the source, wherein the first encoder is adapted to receive the unencoded data, encode the unencoded data, and output encoded data at a first data rate. The data encoding system further includes a second encoder interoperably coupled to the source, wherein the second encoder is adapted to receive the unencoded data, encode the unencoded data, and output encoded data at a second data rate in which the second data rate exceeds the first data rate. This Abstract is provided to comply with rules requiring an Abstract that allows a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain subject matter of the technical disclosure. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 CFR 1.72(b).
Abstract:
There is provided a reproducing apparatus. The reproducing apparatus includes acquisition section configured to read out recorded data from a disk and acquire related data related to the recorded data, reproducing section configured to generate data by using the recorded data read out by the acquisition section and the related data acquired by the acquisition section and output the data as reproduced data, generating section configured to generate specific information that specifies the related data based on data appended to the related data acquired by the acquisition section, and memory control section configured to cause memory section to store reproduction-stop position information indicating reproduction-stop position on the disk and the specific information when the reproduction of the reproducing section is halted.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a media player configured for executing stored files, and a sensor connected to the media player configured for perceiving a feature of a user who approaches the apparatus and transferring the feature to the media player. The media player plays files according to the feature perceived by the sensor.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a display apparatus and a control method thereof. The display apparatus includes a memory which stores contents with voice information; a voice output unit which outputs a voice; a voice storage which receives and stores a voice of a user; and a controller which controls the voice output unit to selectively output one of the voice information stored in the memory or the voice of a user stored in the voice storage when reproducing the contents.
Abstract:
A data processing system including a data storage device having data stored on a data storage medium. Within said data processing system, a system electronics is operatively coupled to a sensor and to said data storage device. When the sensor senses a change in gravitational or inertial acceleration of said data processing system, it alerts system electronics to temporarily park a read/write head in a safe position.
Abstract:
An optical recording controlling method and an optical recording apparatus utilizing the method implement operations of performing a recording operation to record the data in the recording medium, applying a pause request signal to stop, temporarily, the recording operation, determining whether to set a record resume time, and if the record resume time is set while the recording operation is in pause, temporarily stopping the recording operation and then resuming the recording operation at the record resume preset time. Therefore, the recording operation may be resumed at a user's desired time.
Abstract:
An optical storage drive with functions of detecting turn over is disclosed. When it is detected that an optical storage drive is turned over, the power of the optical storage drive is turned off, or the operation of the optical storage drive is stopped, or the optical disc originally in the optical storage drive is ejected, or some warning reactions are generated so as to prevent a user that accidentally turns over an optical storage drive from operating the optical storage drive.
Abstract:
A recording or playback apparatus classifies privacy-related information such as information concerning an operation of an apparatus and information for identifying an operator into, e.g., an individual identification information category, playback contents information category, apparatus maintenance information category, and photographing environment information category, and controls recording, playback, display, transfer, or erase of the privacy-related information by the apparatus in accordance with the classified categories.
Abstract:
A storage device protection system has a disk for storing data, the disk including a disk medium and a buffer for writing data to the disk medium. The device includes: a detecting unit for detecting an operation to cut off a main power supply of the device; an access suspending unit for suspending access to the hard disk when the detecting unit detects the operation; a writing unit for writing data in the buffer to the disk medium when the detecting unit detects the operation; and a power cutoff unit for cutting off the main power supply after the writing operation of the medium writing unit.
Abstract:
A disk drive device in which emergency unloading at the start of the engine is prevented, a head may have a prolonged life and improved reliability as an HDD is achieved. A disk drive device is driven or the movement of a magnetic head is allowed after an engine start in a vehicle is detected by an engine start detecting part, so that emergency unloading can be prevented at the start of the engine. In order to detect the engine start, voltage values on four power supply lines for a vehicle power supply device are monitored or the outputs of various sensors such as a tachometer, a vibration detection sensor, an engine sound detection sensor, a vehicle speed pulse, a gyro sensor and a parking brake are monitored. In another embodiment, the number of emergency unloading occurrence at the start of the engine is reduced, which allows the head to have a prolonged life, so that the disk drive device has improved reliability as an HDD. The voltage values on two power supply lines, first and second power supply lines for a vehicle power supply device are monitored. The magnetic head is allowed to move when the voltage values on the first and second power supply lines attain a prescribed value after a prescribed time period after the voltage value on the first power supply line attains prescribed value.
