摘要： An apparatus-implemented method according to one embodiment includes detecting an error while writing data to a tape volume, and repositioning the tape in response to detecting the error. Further, the method includes determining, after the repositioning, a current position of the tape, and determining, based on the current position, whether a rewrite of data associated with the error to the tape volume is allowed. A system according to one embodiment includes a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor. The logic is configured to cause the foregoing method to occur. A computer program product according to one embodiment includes a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions readable and/or executable by a controller to cause the controller to perform the foregoing method.

A recording apparatus compares the multimedia content to be recorded with the limitations specified by the content limitation indicator prior to recording the multimedia content on the recording medium.

摘要： Embodiments in accordance with the present invention provide a disk unit capable of restricting access to data stored in the recording medium depending on users. In one embodiment, the user enters a password into a host computer. This password is transferred to a password verification section. Then, the password verification section checks whether the password coincides with any one of authentication passwords stored in an authentication password storage section. If the password coincides with any one of the passwords, the password verification section supplies an authentication signal to an operation mode control section. The operation mode control section supplies an operation mode signal to a controller by receiving the authentication signal. The controller controls execution of the operation mode according to the operation mode signal.

The media presentation mechanism is communicatively coupled with the usage compliance mechanism. The present method further includes the file system driver performing a first decryption of the computer readable media. The present method further includes the media presentation mechanism performing a second decrypting of the computer readable media concurrent with presenting the computer readable media to the recipient.

摘要： A recording medium storing a write protection information, and a write protection method for protecting data recorded on a recordable and/or rewritable disc from unwanted overwriting or erasing. In order for write protection of a disc in a bare state that is usually used in a cartridge having a recognition switch for write-protection, such as a DVD-RAM, write protection information is recorded in a Lead-in area, a Lead-out area or a recording information area other than a user data area of the disc, and the data is protected from unwanted overwriting or erasing using the write protection information. Also, even though the write protection information stored on a disc does not match the state of a recognition switch of a case for write-protection, the data can be prevented from unwanted overwriting or erasing. Thus, the write protection can be ensured when a recordable and/or rewritable recording medium, such as DVD-RAM, DVD-R and DVD-RW, is used in a bare state.
