Abstract: A method for directional sound capture. The method includes capturing, using a camera device, a sequence of images of a scene comprising a light source attached to a sound source object, detecting, by a hardware processor based on a pattern of local light change across the sequence of images, the light source in the scene, determining a direction of the sound source object by at least determining a location of the light source in at least one image of the sequence of images, transmitting, to a direction control device coupled to a microphone, a control signal to direct a sensitivity direction of the microphone towards the sound source object, and capturing, using the microphone and in response to directing the sensitivity direction of the microphone towards the sound source object, the sound emitted from the sound source object.

Abstract: An apparatus with a base unit comprising a microphone array arranged to capture a plurality of local audio signals for producing a spatially encoded sound-field signal, and a remote microphone device with a microphone and an associated storage portion, wherein the remote microphone device is arranged to capture a remote audio signal associated with a sound source with the microphone and store said remote audio signal in the associated storage portion. The apparatus is further arranged to use the plurality of local audio signals to produce a spatially encoded sound-field signal with a plurality of components, determine a position of the remote microphone device, and generate a spatially encoded soundtrack using the spatially encoded sound-field signal and the stored remote audio signal in accordance with the determined position of the remote microphone device.

Abstract: The technology provides for a pair of earbuds. For instance, a first earbud and a second earbud may each include one or more sensors. The pair of earbuds may further include one or more processors configured to receive one or more first sensor signals from a first sensor in the first earbud and one or more second sensor signals from a second sensor in the second earbud. The one or more processors may compare the first sensor signals with the second sensor signals. Based on the comparison, the one or more processors may detect whether the first earbud and the second earbud are being worn by different users. Based on detecting that the first earbud and the second earbud are being worn by different users, the one or more processors may control the first earbud and the second earbud to use a shared mode.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for voice processing in an audio device having an array of a plurality of microphones wherein the array is capable of having a plurality of positional orientations relative to a user of the array, is provided. The method may include periodically computing a plurality of normalized cross-correlation functions, each cross-correlation function corresponding to a possible orientation of the array with respect to a desired source of speech, determining an orientation of the array relative to the desired source based on the plurality of normalized cross-correlation functions, detecting changes in the orientation based on the plurality of normalized cross-correlation functions, and responsive to a change in the orientation, dynamically modifying voice processing parameters of the audio device such that speech from the desired source is preserved while reducing interfering sounds.

A substantially cylindrical frame may encircle the assembly enclosure and may be surrounded by a tube of seamless material. A top end of the tube of seamless material may fold over a top end of the substantially cylindrical frame, and a bottom end of the tube of seamless material may fold over a bottom end of the substantially cylindrical frame. A cover assembly may couple to a top end of the assembly enclosure and secure the top end of the seamless fabric. A charging foot may be coupled to a bottom end of the assembly enclosure and secure the bottom end of the seamless fabric.

Abstract: A portable audio input/output device may include one or more openings that extend through a cover of the device and allow acoustic signals outside a housing of the device to reach a microphone disposed within the housing. The opening(s) may be illuminated by a light guide disposed within the housing, which scatters light emitted from lights disposed within the housing. In some instances, a hole may pass through a printed circuit board to allow acoustic signals to be received by the microphone disposed below the printed circuit board. An input/output (I/O) interface module with multiple buttons and inputs may be installed in the hole. The multiple buttons and I/O ports of the I/O interface module may be aligned along an axis vertical relative to the housing and centered with respect to each other.
