Abstract:
A load supporting hydraulic system having a pilot operated main control valve is provided with pilot controlled load check valve operative to permit free flow of fluid from said control valve toward the load supporting means of the system in response to pilot pressure and to block fluid flow from the load supporting means toward the control valve. The system includes valve means operative independent of the main control valve to permit the load check valve to be opened by fluid pressure in the load supporting means to allow fluid flow therefrom to the reservoir. The system further includes safety valve means for blocking fluid flow to pilot control means.
Abstract:
An on-line diagnostic system is provided working conjointly with but not interfering with the operation of a logically controlled industrial control system. Thus binary digital words are displayed at a centralized location for comparison with a scroll chart to indicate irregularities of operations by listing invalid words and to pinpoint correctional techniques with a predetermined servicing recommendation for invalid word combinations. In a preferred embodiment the system is a fluid controlled binary operated cyclic control system provided with logic elements interconnected for automatically progressing through a cyclic operation mode controlling flow paths for working fluid under pressure in a desired sequence to thereby perform a work function. The preferred fluid logic elements comprise a compartment separated into two chambers by a flexible diaphragm which is flexed by pressure differentials to block or open fluid flow paths through the respective chambers. Binary indications as to status of these flow paths are provided as pressure readings at a plurality of key flow path positions thereby producing the binary word information specifying the nature of malfunctions.
Abstract:
Pulse actuated binary fluid responsive logic elements are connected in a control system for a fluid flow network operating a fluid responsive mechanism. The logic elements are interconnected to respond to a trigger pulse and automatically sequence through a cycle of operation sensing and responding to fluid pressure conditions at control points in the flow network. A portion of the control points are monitored with diagnostic binary pressure indicators to indicate the status of the network during the control sequence by display of binary words. For correcting malfunctions a comparison chart indicates the nature of invalid words and the corresponding procedure for correcting the malfunctions sensing that word structure, thereby expediting servicing by semi-skilled personnel without detailed knowledge of the system operation.
Abstract:
A pressure modulator for a hydraulic valve to modulate the pressure of the hydraulic fluid supplied to two clutches as the transmission of power is transferred from one clutch to another.
Abstract:
An operator''s actuator lever provides for starting, stopping and speed control of a fluid motor and a separate direction lever provides for selecting forward or reverse motor operation. The two levers are supported for pivoting motion along arcs which extend at right angles to each other and a stop carried on the actuator lever blocks shifting of the directional lever except when the motor is stopped thereby avoiding damage to mechanism driven by the motor from sudden reversal at high speeds. Through fluid lines, the levers condition a compact simplified valve assembly which directs driving fluid to a selected side of the motor at a selected rate and which also functions as a make-up valve to avoid cavitation and as a lock valve to resist motor movement by external load forces acting on the mechanism connected to the motor.
Abstract:
A PRESSURE CONTROLLED DIRECTIONAL SYSTEM FOR A HYDRAULIC PRESS MOTOR CHARACTERIZED IN THE PROVISION OF A MOTOR REVERSING VALVE ASSEMBLY INCLUDING TWO SUPPLY VALVES AND TWO RETURN VALVES WHICH ARE CLOSED WHEN PILOT PRESSURE IS CONDUCTED THERETO AND WHICH ARE OPENED BY FLUID PRESSURE WHEN PILOT PRESSURE IS VENTED THEREFROM, AND A FOURWAY PILOT VALVE WHICH SELECTIVELY CONDUCTS PILOT PRESSURE TO SAID VALVES AND VENTS PILOT PRESSURE THEREFROM THUS TO ACTUATE THE PRESS MOTOR IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. THE PILOT VALVE IS CHARACTERIZED IN THAT IT HAS A NEUTRAL POSITION WHEREAT ALL OF SAID VALVES HAVE PILOT PRESSURE VENTED THEREFROM SO THAT THEY MAY OPEN TO CONDUCT SYSTEM PRESSURE TO THE RESERVOIR AND WHEREAT THE PILOT PRESSURE INLET PORT THEREOF IS BLOCKED SO THAT PILOT PRESSURE STANDS AT THE PILOT VALVE PREPARATORY TO CONDUCTION TO SELECTED SUPPLY
AND RETURN VALVES. THE SYSTEM HEREIN IS FURTHER CHARACTERACTERIZED IN THAT THE SUPPLY AND RETURN VALVES ARE SPRINGBIASED AGAINST THE DIRECTION OF FLOW OF FLUID THERETHROUGH AND IN THAT IT HAS A DUAL PUMP ARRANGEMENT TO PROVIDE FOR RAPID ACTUATION OF THE PRESS MOTOR IN EITHER DIRECTION BY THE CONJOINT FLOW OF FLUID FROM A HIGH PRESSURE-LOW VOLUME PUMP AND A LOW PRESSURE-HIGH VOLUME PUMP.
