A pivoting hinge joint having two end stop positions including a pivot arm including a first guideway, a stationary guide including a second guideway having a bent configuration with a turning point, a pivot axis for allowing the pivot arm to pivot with respect to the stationary guide, a guide member adapted to be guided in the first and second guideways, at least one spring adapted to bias the guided member to a first stop position and a second stop position, wherein the turning point is disposed between the first stop position and the second stop position and wherein the pivot arm pivots with respect to the stationary guide between the first stop position and the second stop position.
Abstract:
A compound hinge system includes a first link and a second link. The first link includes knuckles and arcing engaging surfaces next to stop portions that are configured for receiving engaging lug portions on a second link member. A second link member includes first and second sets of knuckles. One of the sets of knuckles cooperates with a hinged pin to pivot relative to the first link while the second set of knuckles receives a hinge pin to pivot relative to the second element. The lugs slide relative to the engaging surface and push against the stop portions to flex them outward and require additional force to move between various stops in the range of motion.

A hinge for furniture comprises a bowl (11) and a wing (12) interconnected by connecting rods (13, 14) pivotally mounted to enable a movement between a closed position and an open position of the hinge. An automatic closure mechanism (19, 20) urges the hinge towards a closed position when the hinge is brought close to such a closed position. The bowl (11) comprises regions (21) of interference with at least one connecting rod when the hinge is close to the open position, to offer an increased resistance to said movement over a length thereof close to the open position.

A door hinge assembly combined with a door holding device particularly for motor vehicles has a first and a second hinge member mounting the door for swinging movement between an open and a closed position, a torsion bar spring supported at one of the hinge members and having a load arm projecting over the height of the hinge member and directed parallel to the hinge axis and a pair of abutment rollers rotatively displaced against a spring disc which acts as a brake at the other of the hinge members located a distance from the hinge axis. The abutment rollers operate in cooperation with the load arm of the torsion bar to form a catch device for holding the door at least in the open position and the abutment rollers are formed with different diameters along their circumference and they are rotatably mounted about bearing axes, respectively, which are arranged spaced a distance from each other, which distance is less than the dimension of the larger diameter.

On application of pressure the second member (27) pivots on the first member (25) against a spring bias (43) to disengage the second member from the first part (19) and allow the second latch part (25, 27) to move angularly with respect to the first latch part (19) under continuing pressure on the second member.
