Abstract:
A method of marking a tire to indicate both the taper vector direction and the plane of the radial force first harmonic (RF1H) vector, whereby the tire, with its axis positioned vertically, is marked with a single mark in the RF1H plane and on the positive-taper side, i.e. on the taper vector out side, by a marking head fitted to a multiple-axis device for so moving the marking head as to cooperate selectively with one or other of two shoulders of the tire.
Abstract:
A versatile tire derimming machine comprises three crushing arms articulated at a top of the device, hydraulic actuators for each arm and a power multiplying arrangement. The device is generally mounted on a rotating means of a mechanical arm such as a hydraulic excavator or a log loader and can be remotely moved into position to "pick" a tire and wheel combination from a resting place, place the tire and wheel combination in a desired orientation and deform the wheel therein thus facilitating removal of the tire therefrom quickly and easily. The machine may be configured for and used on every size wheel and tire combination but is particularly suited for use in derimming large truck tires from their wheels. The device avoids the need for a worker lifting or moving the tire/wheel combinations which can easily weight 120 lbs.
Abstract:
An apparatus for mounting pneumatic vehicle tires, the beads of which, in the mounted state, are disposed on the radially inner periphery of a wheel rim. The apparatus permits simple and rapid mounting of a tire. A mounting unit which, after the introduction of a portion of the tire bead in a recessed portion of the rim, fixes the bead portion. A drivable roller, which in operation engages in the bead region of the tire, has a circumferential speed which is greater than the rolling speed on the tire.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire and wheel assembly wherein the wheel is manufactured with mounting holes offset from the geometric center to locate the low point of the first harmonic of radial runout adjacent a given angular location, such as the valve hole, so that, when a tire is mounted thereon with the high point of the first harmonic of radial force variation aligned with the valve hole, the respective harmonics cancel each other to provide a tire and wheel assembly with enhanced rotational characteristics. In an apparatus for forming the wheel mounting holes by axially reciprocating a piercing tool against a wheel disc while the bead seats are clamped between wheel locating jaws, axially opposed jaw pairs are centered on an axis offset from the axis of reciprocation such that the centerline of the mounting holes is correspondingly eccentrically offset from the average bead seat axis.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a machine for treating a tired wheel comprising a base (2), at least one column (3) which projects from the base (2), at least one tool-holder arm (4a, 4b, 4c) supported by the column (3) and at least one work tool (5a, 5b, 5c) supported by or articulated to the tool-holder arm (4a, 4b, 4c).
Abstract:
Described herein is a wheel rim clip or clamp that is used to assist the user in mounting or remounting a bicycle tire on a wheel, thereby allowing the user to use both hands in mounting the tire around the wheel (tubeless or a tube/inner tube assembly). Furthermore, the rim clip allows a user to mount or remove a tire from a wheel rim with or without a work stand.
Abstract:
A slide hammer bead breaker and wheel tipper tool includes a guide shaft, a weight slidably received within the guide shaft, and an impact head attached to an end of the guide shaft. The impact head includes a foot loop and a slot formed in each of two opposing sides, and includes a wedge protruding from an end opposite the guide shaft. The wedge is tapered and curved from the guide shaft to a tip, and includes a notch which separates the wedge into two wedge portions. Each foot loop is sized such that a user's foot can rest thereon.
Abstract:
A wheel assembly includes a collapsible wheel and an airless flexible tire mounted on the wheel. The wheel includes a central portion and a plurality of circumferentially spaced mounting elements attached to the central portion. Each of the mounting elements is movable between a retracted position and an extended position, and may be pivotally attached to the central portion of the wheel and configured to pivot between the retracted position and the extended position. The tire may be positioned on the wheel when one or more of the mounting elements is in the retracted position, and the one or more mounting elements are moved to the extended position wherein the mounting elements engage and support the tire.
Abstract:
The invention relates to bicycle work stands for making repairs and changing and mounting tubeless tires. There is provided a one-sided wheel work stand with a pivotal upper wheel bracket which allows the user to work unobstructed on the wheel and then acts as a device to lay the wheel flat for better sealing. In related embodiments, the work stand is configured to assist a user in adapting 32 mm 15 QR axle hubs and in truing a bicycle wheel while attached to the work stand.
Abstract:
Apparatus including a wheel balancing device and a tire changing device, comprising a spindle shaft for rotatably supporting a vehicle wheel or rim, unbalance measuring means operatively connected to the spindle shaft and having a spatial unbalance measuring area in which unbalance forces of the wheel or rim are detected, tire changer tools for assembling a tire onto a rim, spindle supporting means supporting the spindle shaft in a force acting range in which forces are created between the tire changer tools and the tire during the assembling or disassembling of the tire, tool supporting means supporting the tire changer tools within the force acting range which is arranged outside of the spatial unbalance measuring area, and drive means driving the spindle shaft with a rotational speed and torque adapted for assembling and disassembling the tire or for measuring unbalance forces of the wheel or rim.
