This invention provides a global strategic picture of commodity movements generated by tracking ships from satellite and other sources and then combining ship location and movement information with at least one other data set, such as vessel, port, cargo, weather, or market data. Ship positions are integrated with other data, such as vessel, port, cargo, weather, and market information, to create a global strategic picture of commodity flows. A global strategic picture may then be generated by combining (i) ship movements gathered by satellite and other sources, with (ii) vessel, port, cargo, weather, market, and other data from existing sources, and (iii) a time history of these data sets.

The marine vessel includes a deck having a plurality of seismic sensor devices stored thereon, two remotely operated vehicles, each comprising a seismic sensor storage compartment, and a seismic sensor transfer device comprising a container for transfer of one or more of the seismic sensor devices from the vessel to the sensor storage compartment of at least one of the two remotely operated vehicles.

An aperture is formed through the pivot pin receiving portion. The apparatus further includes a box-like member formed at one end of the body portion to receive a locking mechanism therein. There is a counterweight disposed at the other end of the body portion to provide a minimal force being required to pivot the apparatus from an inoperative container supporting position into an operative container supporting position.

The containers have hollow corner castings and the lashing rod has a head comprising a stud adapted for passage through a side access opening of the casting. The locking head is securable to the casting by rotating the head about a pivotal axis so that the stud engages an inner wall of the casting. A fitting, having a locking pin receiving bore, partially extends into a corner casting and is adapted for interconnecting two abutting stacked containers. A deck container restraint system is disclosed which unitizes discrete containers against vertical movement in modules of three-wide, typically four-high stacks or columns to prevent overboard loss due to static and dynamic load conditions experienced at sea. A three-wide, one-high bottom tier of containers is secured against side to side and vertical movement by deck cones having locking devices. The overlying three-wide second tier is secured against side to side and vertical movement by cones having locking devices at the top of the first tier. Finally the three-wide, two-high top third and fourth tiers of containers are loaded, first by being tied vertically together by cones having locking devices and second, by being lifted in vertically tied pairs onto stacking fittings at the second-third tier interface. The stacking fittings restrain side to side movement at the second-third tier interface only. Upon completion of placement of the third and fourth tier, an equalizing spreader fits over the top of the three-wide, four-high container columns or stacks, restraining relative vertical and horizontal movement between the corners of adjacent containers. By providing for remote fastening of the equalizer to the top of the three-wide, four-high module, container restraint against dynamic loadings commonly experienced at sea can occur without conventional horizontal or vertical ties. Provision is made to expand the module to container columns on either side if additional equalizer spreaders are used.
