    摘要： The invention relates to a tenter frame for treating web materials such as woven or knitted fabrics, film or the like, to apparatus for removing a web from a tenter while controlling the web and to a process for removal of a web from a tenter. A pair of endless opposed tenter chains having a plurality of pins thereon engage opposite edges of the web material for holding it as it is treated on the tenter frame. Pinned rolls are provided for engaging and transferring the web material from the pins of the tenter frame with the web taken off of the tenter chains without loss of control over the web. A cutter unit is also be provided for trimming the edges from the web after it has been removed from the tenter chain, and while the web remains under control of the pinned rolls, after which trimmed edges are automatically removed from the pins for discarding.

The web guiding apparatus includes a device for supporting the traveling web during the feed of the web from a web conveying assembly to a severing location at which a selvedge is severed from the web. The support device includes an endless belt assembly having an endless belt traveling in an inclined direction with respect to the web travel path of the web conveying assembly. The web guiding apparatus further includes a support bar for supporting the web laterally inwardly of the endless belt.

    摘要： A device for the finishing of at least one lengthwise edge of a sheet of material, which at least on the one lengthwise edge has a lengthwise strip which is thinner than the remainder of the sheet of material, in that the finished lengthwise edge runs parallel to the lengthwise edge of the sheet to the side bordering the different material thicknesses, and at least two scanning devices are provided, responsive to the variations of thickness of the sheet. One scanning device is arranged to scan the lengthwise strips of the sheet which are thinner and the other scanning device is arranged to scan the sheet in its area of greater thickness. The two scanning devices are positioned transverse to the direction of movement of the sheet and are spaced so that they normally scan the sheet close to the lengthwise edge thereof, on the side bordering the different material thicknesses. If the lengthwise edge deviates to the side in one or the other direction, one or the other scanning device responds, and a drive motor is actuated correspondingly to cause the transverse adjustment of the finishing units, including the scanning devices. In this manner, the sheet is finished on the lengthwise edge exactly parallel to the adjacent lengthwise edge bordering the different material thicknesses on the side.

    摘要： A method for guiding a moving web material such as carpet or the like which has continuous longitudinal strands woven in parallel disposition, and which utilizes an invisible dye marker which is not readily apparent to normal viewing of the material after guiding and performance through certain processing stages. The method consists in applying selected luminescent dye marking materials to a selected thread or yarns during production of the web material and then utilizing line guide illumination and sensing responsive to selected luminescence to derive positioning signals which are then utilized through suitable control means to continually maintain lateral web position of the moving web material for trimming, rolling, etc. operations.
