    摘要: An electromagnetic detector designed to monitor road traffic, responsive to a modification of an electromagnetic field produced by the presence of a metallic mass in the vicinity thereof, comprises a metal base on which are disposed a transmitting coil creating a field and a receiving coil whose axis deviates from the perpendicular to the base. The receiving coil detects a measuring field created by the currents induced in the base by the transmitted field. The processed signal is the resultant of the signal produced by the presence of a metallic mass in the transmitted field and by the signal due to the measuring field.

    摘要: A traffic control device in which a solid state light source such as a light emitting diode (LED) is energized by a power supply such as a battery pack contained within the device. The battery life and conspicuousness of the device are enhanced by providing a network which includes an oscillator circuit and a photocell for intermittently energizing the LED only when the intensity of the ambient light is below a predetermined level. In a preferred embodiment, a plurality of LED's are sequentially energized to enable directional control.

    摘要: An elongated traffic sensor strip having a plurality of separate segments each appropriately spaced along the sensor to monitor traffic in separate lanes of a multi-lane roadway. A sealed envelope encloses segmented pressure-sensitive elements and a plurality of conductors connected to the individual elements. Metallic plates are positioned in the envelope along the length of the strip for attaching the strip to the surface of the roadway. In one embodiment, the elements have a pair of conductor plates normally held in spaced parallel relationship and movable to contact each other upon compression of the elements. In another embodiment, the elements have a coaxial cable which produces an electrical effect when subjected to pressure.

    摘要: A vehicle presence detector is disclosed using a detector loop made to resonate at a harmonic of the oscillator driving frequency. A phase detection apparatus is included capable of detecting changes in the relative phase of two signals in a random harmonic relationship. The oscillator frequency is voltage controlled and a feedback loop from the phase detection apparatus is provided to tune the oscillator and eliminate the effect of environmental changes.

    摘要: A marker for indicating traffic lanes on a roadway, in the form of a vault-like metal stamping with a generally flat base comprised of peripherally spaced, inwardly bent, tabs that underlie only a portion of an upper surface of the marker. The upper surface is continuous, with alternate, generally radially extending, ridges and depressions. A preferred configuration of the upper surface has flat horizontal portions at base level, spaced between the ridges at the periphery of the marker, forming a part of the depressions. The ridges incline steeply upward and inward from the periphery and extend generally parallel to the base at the central part of the marker. In one embodiment, an opening is provided in an inclined face of the upper surface for a reflector having a flat face inclined at approximately the same angle as the surface in which the opening is formed. The reflector is of the cube-corner type in which a plane common to the cube corners is perpendicular to the cube-corner axes and angularly related to the front face of the reflector. The plane of the cube corners is located substantially behind the front face, recessed from the opening, and a major portion of the cubecorner pattern extends the full width of the opening in the upper surface of the marker.
