    摘要: An apparatus for noodling a gelating dispersion which continuously gels and noodles the gelatin dispersion and supplies noodles of the dispersion into cold water in a washing tank, said apparatus comprising a means for supplying a predetermined quantity of said dispersion to an extruder at a predetermined pressure, said extruder comprising a plurality of supply nozzles that extend from a receiving chamber for said dispersion which are preferably made of a material having higher thermal conductivity than the walls of the chamber, and a washing tank to which cold water has free access, the supply nozzles of said extruder being so arranged as to be immersed in the cold water in said washing tank, to thereby promote gelation of said dispersion flowing down through each of said nozzles and to form firmer and stabler noodles.

    摘要: A method of concentrating a dispersion of solid material in a liquid in which the solid material has been precipitated and which contains a dissolved substance or dissolved substances used or produced in the formation of the precipitate, which method comprises introducing the dispersion continuously under pressure into a radially symmetrical chamber provided with discharge outlets, so as to maintain within the chamber a liquid vortex, said discharge outlets being situated so that a dispersion more concentrated than the feed continuously discharges through at least one said outlet and liquid or a dispersion less concentrated than the feed continuously discharges through the other or through at least one other outlet. The method is preferably applied for freeing a silver halid hydrophilic colloid dispersion from by-products produced in its preparation and/or flocculation.

    摘要: A method for chemically sensitizing a silver halide photographic emulsion with a selenium compound is disclosed. The sensitizing method comprises the steps of preparing a dispersion of solid particles of a selenium compound in an aqueous medium by a process comprising the following steps of (1) dissolving a substantially water-insoluble organic selenium compound in a substantially water immiscible low-boiling organic solvent to prepare a selenium compound solution, (2) dispersing the selenium compound solution in water or an aqueous solution of a dispersing aid to form a oil-in-water type dispersion, and (3) removing the organic solvent from the oil-in-water type dispersion by stirring the dispersion under a decompressed condition to precipitate the selenium compound so as to form a dispersion of fine solid particles of the selenium compound having an average particle size of 10 nm to 3 .mu.m;adding the solid dispersion particles of the selenium compound to a silver halide emulsion, and ripening the silver halide emulsion in the presence of the solid dispersion particles of the selenium compound.

    摘要: The present invention describes a method and apparatus in which solid gelatin chunks are liquefied, tempered, and debubbled in a single operation. The debubbling step is accomplished by evacuating and sealing off the loaded solid reservoir and heat exchanger before initiating the liquefying step. After the vacuum is applied, the gelled chunks are pressed into the heat exchanger, where heat is applied to the gelled chunks of photographic material. This liquefies the gelled chunks of photographic material. When the liquefied product gives a positive pressure at the heat exchanger outlet, the liquefied product is allowed to flow from the heat exchanger. Liquefying and tempering are performed as the solid chunks are pushed through the heat exchanger by the reservoir piston.
