Abstract: The present invention is a superconducting partial insulation magnet and a method for providing the same. The magnet includes a coil with a non-insulated superconducting wire winding wound around a bobbin. The coil has a first wire layer, a second wire layer substantially surrounding the first layer, and a first layer of insulating material disposed between the first wire layer and the second wire layer. Each wire layer comprises a plurality of turns, and the first layer of insulating material substantially insulates the second wire layer from the first wire layer.

Abstract: A transformer component for setting an inductance and method for manufacturing a transformer component are disclosed. In an embodiment, the transformer component includes a first core part with a middle limb and a second core part with a middle limb, an end side of the middle limb of the first core part and an end side of the middle limb of the second core part being opposite one another. The first core part and the second core part respectively have a bearing area with a respective slope. A width of a gap between the end side of the middle limb of the first core part and the end side of the middle limb of the second core part depends on a position in which the bearing area of the first core part bears against the bearing area of the second core part.

Abstract: A superconducting device includes a first superconducting wire configured to carry a first current in a superconducting state, and to generate thermal energy upon occurrence of a hot spot during conduction. The device includes a second superconducting wire, thermally coupled to and electrically isolated from the first superconducting wire. The second superconducting wire is configured to conduct a second current in a superconducting state below, but sufficiently near its critical surface to be quenched to a non-superconducting state upon conduction of the thermal energy from the first superconducting wire.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for winding electrical coils (electromagnets) is described. A self-propelled and self-referencing winding vehicle uses features on a winding bobbin to guide the direction and/or orientation of the vehicle, while laying electrical conductor material (e.g., high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes) as it traverses the bobbin. The vehicle may wind electrical coils with complex shapes. In some embodiments, the self-propelled, self-referencing (SPSR) vehicle may perform other magnet fabrication and assembly procedures.

Abstract: A non-contact power reception apparatus is provided, in which a power reception coil for a charging system and a loop antenna for an electronic settlement system are mounted on a battery pack and a cover case of a portable terminal such that the power reception coil is arranged in the center thereof and the loop antenna is disposed outside the power reception coil, so that a mode of receiving a wireless power signal and a mode of transmitting and receiving data are selectively performed, thereby preventing interference from harmonic components and enabling non-contact charging and electronic settlement using a single portable terminal. A jig for fabricating a core to be mounted to the non-contact power reception apparatus is provided.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a compressed coil and a system for holding a wire during the manufacture of a compressed coil are disclosed. The method includes providing a wire including a first lead section, a central section and a second lead section. The central section of the wire is wound around a bobbin to form a coil. A punch top is located over an end of the bobbin such that the end of the bobbin is located at least partially within a through-hole of the punch top. A second lead section of the wire is located within a groove in an outer surface of the punch top or bobbin and pressure is applied to the bobbin and/or punch top to compress the coil.

Abstract: A coil for a magnet includes a superconductor comprising a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi-2212) high temperature superconductor (HTS) filament. The HTS filament can be encased in a protective conducting sheath. The superconductor is wound to form a coil. A reinforcement winding is wound with the superconductor. The reinforcement winding can be a wire, a tape, a band, and an outer layer encasing the superconductor filament. A method of making a coil for a magnet, a composite superconductor for a magnet, and a magnet are also disclosed.
